I would call the dude "a private man," but not introverted. A man for his time, a hero, but then again, what's a hero?
I don't think introverts are prone to confronting Big Lebowskis, and stealing their rug, maybe but I don't think so.
Most deffinately , in my opinion , the dude is an introvert.
On another note, introversion is becoming relatively mainstream with adults especially with the computer generation.
Well I'm thinking discreet, private like DB was saying, but introverts tend to try and avoid situations, like Donny.
Besides I don't think Maude would have chosen what she thought of as an introvert to provide DNA for her child.
I would say the Dude did not bother to try and be an extrovert either. He was more neutral, not recoiling or advancing, but going where the current takes him, like a tumbleweed.
He definitely enjoys his alone time. Bath time, Tai Qi time, Bowling tapes while laying on the Rug.
But like most of us, it's natural to get out and be with friends like he also does often.
I say he's just normal. Not a socialite, but not really an introvert.
I get the feeling that the Dude is an ambivert - someone who can either call upon his social graces or say 'fuck it" and hang out by himself, depending on situational factors.
I'd say the Dude is just the Dude, usually at ease with himself, on his own as well as in company, it doesn't matter, because he is authentically himself, as long as Walter does not draw a piece at the alley or fucks something else up and as long as no human paraquat crosses his ways in an unpleasant way, or when threatened with castration. That's when he becomes undude.
Introvert? Naaah.

Is the Stranger an introvert?
No. Neither the Dude nor the Stranger are introverts.
They are just "Cool".
