Nothing special. I just came on to say that my Ordination Kit AND my tickets to Lebowski Fest just showed up in the mail. What a day!!! ;D :D ;D :D ;D I just wanted to share it with people who would understand my excitement. That is all...
Uberdude
Hi Uberdude,
congratulations you lucky bastard ;-)
lucky uli
Uli-
Where are you abiding at the moment? Perhaps Lebowski Fest is headed your way sometime soon...
Congrats on getting your ordination kit; I have yet to purchase one (skinflint) . . maybe one day soon. "Just Because I Feel Like It" is a good heading for a new board, Dude and, in that spirit . .
One of the twins (Adeline) just presented me with a poem she put together - reproduced here by kind permission of the author (although it may cost me some candy, later).
Snowman
Icy Beautiful
Watching Building Dressed-up

Icy Guard.
Tomorrow I may post some pics of puppies and kittens dressed up like TBL characters ;) . . of course, it depends on how I feel.
Awesome poem! I am a writer myself. I dig it! I was hoping the "Because I feel like it..." would turn into something bigger. The kit and Fest tickets were Xmas/Birthday gifts from the hubster. Looking forward to seeing the pics. : )

May I just say, cakebelly, that I would be in musical heaven if I could get that many people to play ukulele music with me? Because it's the truth. 8)

Excellent!
Makes you feel all warm and tingly inside doesn't it!
YES!!! I jumped around all night. Then I turned my fingers to mincemeat sewing the patches on my pack. : )
@Uberdude - Glad you liked the poem, Dude - you know you can feel free to post your creative stuff on here, anytime.
@JCKindred - Welcome to the forum, Dude (interesting handle, what's the JC stand for?). So you play the ukelele, too - far out, Dude. I wish I had some musical ability (man, I can't even whistle in tune). If you have some video footage of yourself jamming we'd all be glad to see it (maybe put it up on the Abidiest channel).
Usually I don't write stuff I think people here would dig but I have a few comedic things and I like to play with haikus. I'll look through what I have.

Yeh they don't tend to let me use sharp objects at home without supervision either.
LOL!!!!

I'm sure Cake is also suitably polluting the interwebs in his own style.
Klaus tends to perform his live so not so much on the web.
Okay, here's one of my haikus. I call it Hai-Oooo....that hurt!
Hit my funny bone
What idiot named it that?
Ouch! That fucking hurt!
Then there's Hai-Fu
I wrote this haiku
Just so I could say Kung Fu
So...What's it to YOU?
"I'm sure Cake is polluting the interwebs in his own style" S'right, Dude - cakey-style (illegal in a dozen States).
Digging the ouch-ku, Uber - fuckin' nice, made me smile (and the other one, too, of course); fortunately, for you (and all forumites) my poetry was so bad the Universe has, merciffuly, erased it from my memory. Not sure if you are aware of this Dude: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HMtrxoDuU8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HMtrxoDuU8) John Hegley - dig around and have a look for his readings, too. I used to have an album of his, back in the UK - he's a Dude.

Do we need a Haiku Corner on the forum?
I'm in!
Cake,
I loved the link. Thanks for the introduction. By "He's a Dude" you mean, like one of us?
@Uber Yeah, that sounded like some kind of official declaration, didn't it; no, I meant in my opinion, he's a Dude.
@CC, Well, why not haiku
in a corner, helps exclude
the drafts of nihilism
Well, you never know. He could be. Maybe we should invite him.
Also, I really dig your haiku!
Thanks, Dude - I dig, you dig, let us dig ;D
Not sure that he'd want to be in a religion that would have him as a member (I could be wrong). However, we could - if enough people dig him - send him (in time) a little something declaring him a Bard of Dudeism (wether he likes it or not ;D). I think it would be a great way to share what we each find far out and a good way to spread the word and have some fun, too. Now, who's going to design a Bard Badge?
Damn it - typos all over the place, today - edit, edit, edit.
What's a bard badge?
;D Erm . . it's like a badge (well it is a badge) for Bards but in a Dudely stylee, mang: I thought everyone knew that, Dude.
Edit: Sorry, I thought I'd made a typo, there - you are actually asking a straight question. Well, Dude you have your Dude Patches well this would be a modified version declaring the wearer to be a Bard and, therefore, entitled to assistance, a pint or general acclaim when s/ he happens to be among Dudes. I see what went wrong there - I said badge (which is Pin over here) when I should have said patch or maybe a pin would be a better (cheaper) idea. ;D
Okay, I'm beginning to understand but still don't know what a Bard is...
Ah, sorry, Dude - a bard is a poet or minstrel (or both) who is held in high esteem. Shakespeare is considered (and dubbed) the Immortal Bard. Old British (Celt/Anglo Celt) title for a Dude who's job was to know all the songs, legends, what-have-yous of his/her people (without a written language at the time). And to record, in verse or lyric the deeds of heroes, chieftains, etc. Carolan was (M5 may correct me) considered a Bard or Ireland (C19 - early C20th). Sorry for the confusion.
No, that's really cool. You learn something new everyday. In fact, I was just writing a paper on the very subject of lifelong learning.
;D
When you're in doubt

Those are freaking fantastic!!!!! Not to mention, every time I hear the words "right out" I think of that scene in the Holy Grail with the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch and I laugh. : )

Groovy vibes you got going on there, Dude-io
Just got home from a belated birthday lunch with a friend. She wanted to pay and I argued. She said I had to let her pay or she would "contact those Dudeist people and tell them of your un-dudelyness". I abided. Then I came home to find my Dude De Ching waiting on the doorstep for me.

Nice one, belated happy returns of the day (Capricorn Dude, eh?)
Yes, December 28th. Hmmm....Does anyone know The Dude's birthday?
Oh crap - don't kick off another date quest :D
edit: actually I think there is a discussion somewhere on the boards about it; can't recall if a date was settled upon (CC may provide an answer).
I'd love to know. I think finding out his zodiac would be interesting too. : )

Hmmm..... does that mean The Dude (Jefferey Lebowski) has the same birthday? It's just that he doesn't seem like a Sagittarius. Maybe it's the same as the The Dude who The Dude was inspired by?
There's been a lot on this:
http://dudeism.com/smf/index.php?topic=107.0
Also dude, you can do a search for Dude's Birthday.
Interesting thread. From what I've seen of Dowd, I agree. I will have to do a little more research on Sagittarians I guess. I wonder if the Dudely Llama has an opinion. Or the Coen brothers. It would be nice to know if there was a 'officially' recognized birthday. Ya know?

Well there is always this:
http://dudespaper.com/the-day-of-the-dude.html/
The Day of The Dude March 6th
I was wondering about that too but, I didn't see anything about it being a birthday. Although, the odd thing is, I was going to say that The Dude seemed more like a Pieces to me so that would make sense.
March 6th. It's Sunday this year, so even monkey-feeding dudes can organise something together. What do you say about getting together here, in the UK? It doesn't have to be anything big, a quiet pub, a bowling alley, place is less important than people.
I noticed that there's few of us in the Portsmouth area, so maybe that's a good start. I could get there, no problem for a fucking good cause like that. What do you say?
