<DB's head bowed in reverence>

Captain Beefheart was a good man, and thorough.

Ouch! Man that sux.
Course if you have any of his paintings that he's been doing since dropping out of music they just got a lot more valuable.

He was Zappa before Zappa and Tom Waits before Tom Waits.
There is a great documentary about him on Youtube in parts that is very interesting and funny. The one musician marvels at the fact that at the time they were too weird for the 60's. To far out for the psychedelic generation. That ain't easy.
Also talks about what a difficult time the Captain had with performing early on.
I guess one of the early gigs he stopped in the middle of a song and walked inexplicably and  purposefully past the drum kit toward the back of the stage to where he plummeted off and had to be rushed to the hospital.
