I was asked by a family friend to perform their wedding ceremony in August. They knew that I had just become an ordained Dudeist priest and thought it would be great to have me do this. I checked with the Washington County Clerks office of records and Angie told me that in Washington County, I just needed to be recognized by my church as an ordained priest and no prior registration with the county was needed. I just have to sign the marriage certificate and put the address and phone number of the church I represent after the ceremony. That is all I needed. ;D
Now - can someone tell me what the address and phone number of the Church of the Latter Day Dude is? Thanks!
I don't really think there is an "address".... You'd have to talk to Oliver about that... But *shrugs* Maybe I'm wrong, and there is one. But as far as I know there's no physical "church"...
Right on, thanks!
There is a physical address in Los Angeles, but it's more of a mailing address - there is no actual physical church. However, we're looking into maybe setting one up at some point. We don't post the address on the site but if you order the official documents, the address is on them. We also give it out by special request - if someone needs to put it on a form for their county clerk or whatever.
Yeah i'll probably need it at some point as well.... I'm hoping to get at least one wedding done this summer maybe.... My state asks for an address and i don't think I can get away with using my own...

I don't see why your address wouldn't qualify. And I doubt they would actually drive by and check it out. I would give it a try, worst case scenario, they call you a dead beat that the square community doesn't give a shit about.

If you do your 'business' out of your house, your house address may work. I looked at our marriage certificate and its the Rev. home address, not a church. It also just says "mailing address", not "adderss of your church" or what have you.
We live in California and had a non denominational wedding (although he was prespreterian). I think it won't matter, (but your mileage may vary, INAL, yady yada yady). I say go for it.

Personally I'd stick with the axiom that the Dueist church is wherever you find a dudeist.
Or even where ever you realise the Dude!
Just as a follow up, I received my Dudeist priest kit in the mail and all of the address issues are taken care of. If anyone wants to do weddings I would recommend ordering the complete kit.
The wedding I officiated went great! No problems at all but having the actual certificate and letter of good standing was a big help. I would recommend to anyone thinking of performing a wedding to order those documents. Thanks to the folks here and especially to the Dudely Lama for all the help!
Wow mang! That is cool stuff, grats.
Let all Dudeists rejoice, hehehe
Yes, I also contacted Washington County.
"Ministers of any church organized, carrying on its work, and having congregations in this state may perform marriages in this state if authorized by their church to do so. --- Before performing marriages, ministers must file their credentials with the county clerk of the county in which they reside or in which the marriage is to be performed. --- Ministers must give the bride and groom a marriage certificate upon request. Also, the minister must send a marriage certificate to the county clerk who issued the marriage license within one month after the marriage. --- For questions see the county clerk. "
I vote that we congregate down at Buddy's some Saturday afternoon - that would count, right?

An achievement for sure, dude. Helping tie the knot with a dude's lady friend is a way cool thing. Props to you, dude.
I've encountered the same issue, however due to my personal proclivity for procrastination don't have the benefit of waiting for the parcel service to deliver my salvation in the form of a return address... Any chance someone could drop me a line and let me know the mailing address?

Ugh, really?
Also, Pachucojuan Dude, I'm in Washington County. Whereabouts do you reside, man?
I am hoping to do a casual union before the end of the month, and am also in Tigard, what is the timeline that people have experienced to get the kit mailed out to them? My pal needs to get hitched byfore November 1 and I want to make sure that I will have time to get everything here and to make sure the county clerk recognizes my ordination in time, otherwise I might need to find another dude to help me out.
