Title: The Beatles (except for)
Post by: smokin_and_pickin on March 02, 2010, 04:07:39 PM
I nominate the Beatles John, George, and Ringo as Classic Dudes.  But not Paul he would be "Dudas Iscariot" for selling out to money and bad pop music.

I agree; George was pure Dude, his only recorded act of agression being a guitar duel with Eric Clapton. His music was pure Dude.

Ringo has many Dude moments, but only recently has found peace with himself.

John Lennon was a born-again Dude, and was reaching untold heights of Dudism when he was unDudely killed.

Paul, alas, has no clue.

Hey, man, Paul is just as Dudely in my book. Besides, you can't tell me that he's guilty of having bad pop songs, then go keeping mum about Ringo's solo career. I love Ringo, great guy, but I'm not a big fan of his solo work, all my humble opinion of course.

Paul's stuff after the Beatles was great, loved the music from Wings, good stuff. Heck, if I was to actually consider one of them to not be Dudeists, it would probably be John, only because he was a political activist and that is not what I'd consider laid-back, plus he could be a real smart-ass, but that's why I like the guy, those cheeky Brits.

All of the Beatles were/are Dudes. 4 Great Dudes from Liverpool.

Paul's contribution to the Beatles was enough.
And I actually like his first solo album (the one with the cherries).

I think Yoko is the anti Dude.
She is Dudeist Kriptonite.
Just look at what she did to John. She came along and he got all preachy 100% of the time.
A real drag.

QuoteRingo has many Dude moments, but only recently has found peace with himself.

Ringo is Thomas the tank engine dude! Now Thomas wasn't a dude for sure ...far too up tight....but Percy...now there yah go!

Totally laid back and a bit clumsy cos he he's probs stoned a lot!

Have I just rambled off the track... (geddit!)

I lost my train (I know, I'll stop now) of thought here?

Peace Beatle dudes.

PS. Oh and just so you know...there's a campaign in Britain to get Paul banned from appearing at any national event ever again...he's basically turning into an old woman who can't sing but thinks she's entertaining

Yep, I try not to be too negative toward her, but I believe she was the straw that broke the camel's back. The Beatles were already starting to become edgy toward one another before she arrived, so I'm pretty sure she was the match that ignited the powder-keg, striking the final blow to the band's unity and leading ultimately to their break-up.

I'll second (or third) for George, he was a Dude without doubt,
did his own thing,
that's just like my opinion.

I thought it was John Entwhistle who was "researching" the book?

I could be wrong...most likely am! ;)

I met his brother Peter at an arms convention.....back in the day! Weird!  :-\

Peace

I disagree with John being a Dude. From the reports of his mental abuse of his children, homophobia, wife-beating and general dickishness I would say no way.

Maybe only George and definitely Ringo.
