Title: very undude.....
Post by: Dude of Dudes on February 20, 2010, 10:50:25 PM
Today I was being very undude with those fucks down at CapitalOne offices.  Their automated phone system is a travesty!  Their customer service has crashed into the god damn mountain!  I almost waved a gun around, which would have been OVER THE LINE.  Then my Dudeness washed over me and I said, ah fuck it...
The CEO of CapitalOne; a dip shit with nine toed woman.

Next time you need to go in to CapitalOne, bring a coffee mug.  When they start yanking your chain and what-have-you, pull the mug out of your pocket and bounce it off their forehead.  p.s. wear a nice bathrobe so we can enjoy your mug related mug shot when it appears on the smoking gun website.  ;)

nice bathrobe mug shot, by the way....

All these places employ those sort of people who can't get jobs anywhere else.

My last job was with a call centre. Now there are some good people (accidentally) employed in these places, but the majority of them wear slip on shoes (unable to comprehend the complexity of tyeing a bow).

It was like being back at school. (a nightmare for me as I never really liked school in the first place).

I had a lot of trouble with finance companies but they rarely get the upper hand with me because I know my rights better than they do.

Capital One is a very large American Finance Corporation my friend...we don't have them in England and I doubt if you have them in the Netherlands either mate....I only know who they are because I used to have a credit card with them when I lived in the Middle East.

Peace dude.

I'm sorry, FuckinA, I overreacted.  I thought you were making a bad joke, and I was joking back.  I forgot that not everyone knows about Capital One, since they are constantly on television here, and many people have had a Capital One problem.

and while I find your post sweet Ava, I believe that FuckinA was playing into the joke. It can be hard to tell on forums sometimes but I think he was playing on Donny's "What's wrong with Walter Dude?"

Hey man, what's with the slip-on hate. Some of us avoid the laces because we're lazy not inept. In fact, even when I get a pair of shoes that has laces I leave them loose enough to slip on and off. Just sayin...

That's a terrible judgement and so undude it's not funny. These folks are just trying to feed the monkey man....

Ever thought that they have a script they have to follow and if they don't will get fired...

There's always another perception Ava. We can't al be geniuses and wok in astrophysics or all be Mother Theresa and help the poor and homeless.

I don't know if this is very Dude or very Un-Dude of me but, I slacked the fuck off for the last 2 weeks on my schoolwork (which I REALLY needed to get done over break) because my husband was also home.  He's a lot like Donny, ya know and, like, never shuts the fuck up.  He went back to work this morning and I was really fucking glad to see him go.  Now I just have to get off my slacker ass and get to work.  I just needed to get that out...  >:(

Well, Dude, you are not alone, my wife (the toilet seat is always down) slacked-off until last night. too. Ordinarily we share the homework overseer job but this time it was a project about heritage and she wanted to do the Scottish thing (her roots, mon - mine are English/Irish). One would expect a more zesty approach from a former teacher but I guess - as she no longer enjoys teacher-length holidays - she can be forgiven, somewhat. It still ain't done, but at least she started. There ain't no Donny-like character to blame, though . . maybe she's blaming me in her head  ;D
Anyway, fuck it - not undude, especially if you cut your students some slack, the first week back. Have a Dudely new school term.

Thanks man.  Actually, I am not a teacher but, in the process of getting my Master's in Education.  I want to eventually work with at-risk (slacker-type) kids so I'm sure I will be a bit easy on them.  I dig the kids that everyone else has written off.  I look forward to teaching them to take 'er easy and still learn stuff in a far-out, interesting way that's, like, fun.  Ya know?

Oh well, in that case: great slacking Dude! Excellent job at buck-passing, too!

Kudos, to you, though - teaching, one of the toughest jobs in the world (in the UK the State is always setting new targets, changing the structure mid-term and generally fucking things up so that the figures look good come election time - nightmare); a most Dudely calling, keep on truckin', Dude (wish I'd had the benefit of a Dude teacher or two).  8)

ps. I have to say that I would hate to be a student over here (the cost for a start, would be prohibitive)  there seems to be a lot of fucked-upped Godists training to be teachers. I recall Mrs. Cakebelly complaining about her compeers online (she was engaged with an online discussion group for students taking the same course) and how quite a few of them kept referring to God (and what would Jesus do) in relation to the essay question. It was a psychology course.  Fuck. Anyway, keep rolling.

I have the same issue!!!!  I really wish people would just keep Jesus out of the damn equation.  You don't hear me evangelizing Dudism in my discussion questions.  Although, if I see one more person in my class sign their posts "Be Blessed", I may have to just start signing mine "Shut the fuck up Donny"  if I was sure I wouldn't get in trouble for that.  I can't tell you how Un-Dudely I feel on a regular basis for the lack of respect for Separation of Church and State over here in the "Land of the Free" (my ass!)  My undergrad degree (which I am still paying for 13 years later) is in Socio-Poitical Philosophy so I'm sure I get riled up a little more then most but, I can't figure out what's been going on the last decade or so with the rampant Christianity infiltrating itself EVERYWHERE!!!  IDK, there was a thread on here about how Dudeism was based on the Christian Bible.  I gotta say, I almost left my priesthood until I saw the responses fro DB (I think).  Whatever...modern Christianity doesn't even follow it's own bible which is why I want nothing to do with it.  I have no problem with anyone's religion.  Hey, everyone bowls down their own lane, right?  I just don't want your balls anywhere near mine.  I've been hit with them enough times to cause permanent brain damage, ya dig?

One gets the impression that the scene, as it were, is being set for a party we ain't been invited to. Well, Dudes don't need no stinkin' invites, mang - we can infiltrate, too - and, best of all, we can abide until the time is right to pull our rug out from under the Nihilists feet.  8)

Fuck me, when I read your posts I get the impression Christian fundamentalists still are on the advance in the USA  ???

Unfortunately, also here in Germany I notice more 'n' more cars with the fish-sticker sticked on it.
And then there are experiences like the one I wrote about in the "not-a-fucking-worthy-adversary"-thread.

What's that be-blessed-thing about (asks a non-US-dude)

I just hope not the whole world is going crazy.

It's just some Jesus pushing thing that people write/say.  Another way for them to force their religion on you.  I just don't think a public college forum is the place for it.  Not to mention, inserting religion into your discussion of PUBLIC school.  Yes, they actually quote religion in discussions of curriculum! Here in America, there is SUPPOSED to be a separation of church and state, as stated by the dudes who founded this "great nation".  Unfortunately, most Americans don't educate themselves on actual history, only the history they are told.  It's like the argument I have all the time about "under God" in our pledge of allegiance.  Most Americans get mad if you don't say it because they are misinformed and think our founding fathers were all Christians and inserted that.  It was not ADDED until 1954.  Most of our founding fathers were Quakers.  Those that were Christian, Jefferson (who wrote the Declaration of Independence) and Franklin both wrote numerous times that "religion, specifically Christianity, had no place in Government (i.e. public schools) and was an abomination of freedom.  I am both bothered and relieved to find out you are dealing with the same thing.  Relieved that someone else "gets it" and bothered that it is spreading like a damn plague.  I guess you didn't need the history lesson though, as most Europeans know more American history than we do.

Like I said, whichever lane you bowl down is, like, your own thing, man.  Just keep your balls out of mine.  Well, glad to have a real brotherhood here at least.  There's one last forum for sanity. ; )

Faithfully,
Uberdude

Yeah, agree fully with you, Uberdude, problem with those people is, they feel so strongly about their case they often don't stick to t h e i r fucking lane, as you currently experience.

I got my dose of Protestantism when I was young, well, not of the worst kind, fortunately, but still I can get allergic reactions when they get too close.

And as for history lessons,  :) never mind an interesting lesson.

But now I get even more interested. What on earth is the "pledge of allegiance" and "under god"-thing.

I grew up with a Jewish mom and a Catholic dad.  Neither practiced and both raised us on the whole "treat others the way you want to be treated" thing.  They were hippies.  I became Catholic when I was 18 but have since left the church.  It was not for me.  Hypocrisy gives me a rash.  The pledge is something they make school kids say.  I found this link from Wikipedia that explains it and it even explains the "under God" reference.  Feel free to ask any questions.  As I said, my undergrad degree is in Socio-Political Philosophy.  This is my favorite subject!

Thankee, UD, very instructive.

Over here, we don't have such pledges (any more). As you know, we got very astray from any dudeist path with pledges to Fuhrer, flag and what have you.

I guess we learned it the hard way. And, no kidding here, I still feel obliged to the United States because they sure played a major part in freeing us from that evil (well, others as well but without your country coming in - who knows how it would have ended).

Interesting...my husband says the same thing.  Both about why we're not all speaking German and the dangers of such allegiance.  It may seem far fetched but, there are some real political extremists here and I would not be surprised at all to see something like that happen here in a generation or two.  Just take a peek at Glen Beck or Sean Hannity and you'll see what I mean.  Politics in America these days is merely a platform of fear-mongering and their main targets are the dissenters and those that don't follow their Fundamentalist ways.

Yes, it's hand on your heart now.  There are people that don't believe that gesture (hubby included) was ever used here.  I have no proof but, it seems believable to me.
Title: Re: very undude.....
Post by: brother_erwin on January 03, 2011, 03:30:20 PM
Well, no matter how phoney that gesture is, I think already the ancient Romans used it - and were probably not the first ones.

The Nazi-movement just highjacked it, so to speak, as they did with the swastika, which was, to my knowledge, just a harmless (at least I suppose so) symbol of the sun - and now no longer is, of course.
Beck and Hannity are, what appears to me, real what-have-yous.

Yes, the swastika was Native America and the Nazis just flipped it backwards and now no one can use it.  Well, Hitler misappropriated a lot for his own twisted agenda.  I, myself, am a huge fan of Nietzsche and that poor sap gets such a bad rap these days thanks to old Adolf.  Oh well, it's a good filter for gauging the intelligence level of anyone I'm speaking with and knowing when to just end the conversation.  LOL!!
Title: Re: very undude.....
Post by: brother_erwin on January 03, 2011, 04:06:13 PM
Native American? - I thought the swastika was Indian - I mean from the real India ??? Asian-Asian, if that's the preferred nomenclature. But anyway, I am with you on the misappropriation-issue.

Many people over here still think Hitler invented the autobahn (although the first one was opened to the public in 1932) and that this was an achievement if not outweighing but at least.... makes you feel sick to think this thought.

But it brings us back to the movie, does it not? ;D

I got to thinking, and of the Coen brothers' wisdom. It sure is no co-incidence that they alluded to "Kraftwerk" (the real technopop band who had a real hit "Autobahn" celebrating that super-highway in the late 70s) in the context of nazis and nihilists - sorry about the confusion with old Fritz Nietzsche.

Hmm... I had always thought it was Native American but, I could be wrong.  I'm not a huge history buff.  I think you're right about the Coen Brothers though.  I think everything they do is intentional and very calculated.  That's the brilliance!!!!
