Title: The Day of the Dude 2010
Post by: forumdude on February 03, 2010, 10:00:19 PM
Hey Dudes,
Well this year we're not going to take er so easy that we forget to celebrate and promote our High Dudeist Holiday - The Day of the Dude. This March 6th expect Dudeist priests all over the world to celebrate the Dude ethos with white russians, bowling and what have you.

If you've got any ideas for suggestions on how people could celebrate this blessed event, post them here!

March 6th, by the way, is the date that The Big Lebowski was first released. We thought about celebrating it on 4/20 but that was already taken. And we could have done it on Sept 11 (the date the Dude writes on the check at the beginning of the film) but that would have been in bad taste.

So March 6th it is! Time to start organizing your garden parties, bowl-offs or mellow nights at home with the film, some friends and some oat sodas.

March 6th is the Birthday of the City of Toronto. I spent that Saturday evening in Toronto?s most ancient hall, with gas lights and music and food prepared by a lovely group of ?church lady? members of the Old Town of York Heritage Society, celebrating Toronto?s 176th Birthday. For the first time in 40 years an old friend and I performed on the stage, on the same program. To my old time music friend I said ?Dude? this is a great evening. That brought out the subject of Lebowski from the accordion player, and as the evening transpired we took the opportunity to lay back a bit. It was performance then, full of Dude ?what a great room?, Dude that was ?a cool song?, Dude?

Today, while sending the band a link to Dudeism.com, I see that March 6th was a magical date. Day of the Dude. We somehow got the message.

I'm going to watch it! I can't wait. Never seen it. Glad I read about it here. Didn't the Coen Brothers also make O Brother, Where Art Thou? Another movie with interesting perspectives on religion. And No Country For Old Men? And which other movies?

Yeah man I saw True Grit also, I highly recommend.
But anyway, for me a White Russian, a good game of bowling, and watching the movie is good enough for me. Maybe Coitus if the opportunity presents itself.

What are everyone's thoughts on same -sex marriages in states where it's legal or commitment ceremonies in states where civil unions are legal.  Can we do them?

Yep, we can do 'em - hell, I'd even bake a cake (but that would cost extra).

Right on!  I am anxious to perform a ceremony but I think it would be extra cool to marry two Dudes or two Special Ladies and have it on the books, ya know, for like posterity.

For me I'd marry for the same price, unless of course they wanted to do it in like Canada or a state where it's legal, then they'd have to pay for my plane ticket and hotel fees/living expenses. But that goes for anyone who wants to do it far away.

Well, dude, we just don't know. Can't abide it, personally. I dig the female form too much I guess. A pair of testicles, even for a 1000 dollars (or clams, or what have you), just doesn't do it for me. I'm all for anyone digging their own life without nazis as fucking park rangers making the rules, but for me, a dude is just not zesty. Not into johnson here, man.

Same sex marriage seems like too much of a compromised second draft.

That's just like my opinion, man. No harm intended.

Shit yeah, that's cool. Everyone bowls down their own lane. Far out.
