Is the Dude a closet square?

In the scene where the cops attend to the Dude's house to take his statement of claim, the two cops could be the twin pillars of Masonry.

The Coens have borrowed some techniques from Kubrick, the relevant one here is the casting of minor roles mainly because of the real names of the actors. I know how that sounds. Loopy.  ::)

I offer this example from Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut. The film was in part an obvious critique of the wealthy elite as decadent. Leelee Sobieski was cast in a role that any ditzy starlet could play. She was chosen because of her name. John Sobieski was Jan III  King of Poland. Leelee's father in the film was an Eastern European man, possibly Polish.

He was crowned on 2/2/1676. 1676 reduces to 20, then 2, so that's 2/2/2.
He reigned for 22 years.

Back to another Polish dude, our own Lebowski. The blond cop (billed as "Younger Cop" plays the good cop. His name is Christian Clemenson. In the Synchromystic lexicon, the initials CC=33=Freemasons.

Gematria "Christian"=101. "Younger Cop"=139.

The "Older Cop" is played by Richard Gant. Gematria "Older Cop"=88=Mercury.
"Gant"=42.

At 42:19 running time, as Maude calls and leaves a message, the Dude asks "Young Cop" Christian Clemenson  about his briefcase. At this time, he places two fingers across his wrist. This is a reference to the infamous Masonic secret handshake, which entails putting the index and middle fingers across the other dude's wrist.

So is it just more Masonic symbolism, or is the Dude a brother of the other Thoth-ers?

This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regiment to keep my mind limber

A Free Mason? What the fuck are you talking about, dude?

Zen Dog

Well I think this,  now bare with me on this   'cos it's from a fairly zonked out perspective.

But I think The Dude and Walter are the same person.

They are the Yin and Yang of someone who got seperated at conception or something

and donny was like there to keep an eye on them till he wasn't needed no more.

But this is just like yer know............
If you believe you can tell me what to think.
I believe I can tell you where to go.

The dude, Walter, and Donny are all three the same person. Donny is childhood, the dude is youth, and Walter is middle/old age. This is why Donny has to die.

Anyone who says otherwise is like a child who wanders into the middle of the movie. They have no frame of reference.

Is that some kind of Eastern thing?

Abideist

Personal, I think that it's easy to tie just about anything into a "secret" society, and it's very easy to make yourself paranoid contemplating coincedence and such.

1. You as a person are guaranteed to spend a good deal of time thinking (you can't stop)
2. You're going to think about yourself most of that time.
3. You share a single planet with a shit ton of other people who think the same thing, all the time.
4. It really is a small world after all, because were really not that different from each other at the end of the day.
5. Numerolgy and symbolism is easy to tie things with, an connect dots that really don't exist, because they are so fluid and flexible. If you can't add it, multiply, if you can't divide, square root, etc.  A red apple could symbolize knowledge, danger, sexuality, etc.
6. Life is too short to worry about what other dip shits are doing with their free time, if you're really curious about it, go be a mason. It's 40 dollars a month, and all you have to do is ask a mason or go to a temple. It's not a big deal. They arn't going to butt fuck you dude...

please don't waste your time "trying to figure out the secret code" i left in this message, because there is none.
You're damned if you dude, you're damned if you don't.

No conspiracy is a threat as long as you have your aluminum tin foil hat on and in proper working order..........

Your life is in your hands, dude.
