Gareth The Dude

As of recently, I have been studying Dudeism, and am already enchanted by a worldview such as this. In fact, I would be honored to spread the word of Dudeism. Am I permitted to be ordained as a Dudeist priest if I am not yet over 18 years of age? I am only 17.

greatspiritmonk

I personally don't know, but someone will surely answer soon. Welcome here Dude.
Yeah well, that's just, ya know, like, your opinion, man.

Thanks man. Do you know anyone on this forum I could ask directly who would know?

greatspiritmonk

Yeah man, forumdude knows there is no spoon. ...Wait... wrong movie. Damn.
I don't get it. How do I sign this? Is there a special pen?

A lot of Pagan sites (yes I'm a Dudeist Taoist Pagan, I see no conflict) tend to put the age at sixteen as this is a legally responsible age in many countries, but I suppose it's down to where you live and where the site is run from as to which legislation applies.

For safety's sake I would go with what ever the legislation is where you live.

This is all my opinion of course and I in no way represent myself as an expert or legal professional.

Thanks for the input. I messaged forumdude and I haven't gotten a reply yet, but hopefully I will soon. No rush, right?

greatspiritmonk

Right. I think meekon5 is quite right. It depends from your country's rules. Be sure forumdude will tell you. He knows the answer. He knows everything. He knows, well, probably I've lost my train of thoughts here.  8)

Hey Gareth
You're perfectly okay being ordained as a Dudeist Priest in our eyes, however your local government might disagree. Being a Dudeist Priest basically means that we recognize you as one of our flock, and you're in our official database. However, whether you can perform any ceremonies or attend to any other priestly duties (dudeys?) is up to the laws of the state or country that you live in. If you're in the US, best thing would be to contact your local county clerk.

If you're just interested in spreading the Dude word and referring to yourself as an official Dudeist Priest, then by all means, feel free. Unless you live in an authoritarian state which frowns upon free speech and/or fringe religious activity. In which case, don't feel free (how could you?).
I'll tell you what I'm blathering about...

Once again, thanks for all the input dudes.

To forumdude: I am glad to hear that it is okay in yours and other dudes eyes, so now I will check with my local government. I live in the US, in the state of Maine. Even if by state law I am not allowed to perform priestly duties, I would be honored to spread the Dude word under the title of an official Dudeist Priest.

No state laws can keep me from gathering some fellow dudes for some bowling, right?

So welcome fellow Dudeist Priest, or Monk, or whathaveyou.  8)
