Australian Brethren of Dudeism

Dudes and Dudettes,
As our national anthem proudly says "Australians all let us rejoice, For we are young and free," which has many parallels upon our chosen religion of Dudeism. We can rejoice with the knowledge that one small idea - one simple thought process - and one movement has brought us all together, and not only us but members from all over the world.

A religion, young and free for us to explore, to develop, to embrace and enjoy. I come before you today, after speaking to the great Dudely Lama, with a plan, a vision, and an opportunity to help us all feel more included.

I present to you, and Dudes from around the world the Australian Brethren of Dudeism or ABoD for short.

What better country to present and represent Dudesim than the most laid back country in the world, the country where our sports stars actively fight sharks in the middle of a competition, where the weekly ritual is a Barbeque and a couple brews, who has the unofficial slogan of "She'll be right, mate".

Unlike our American counterparts, and Dudes from other parts of the world, there are many more hoops that we need to jump through to be able to officiate at weddings, to welcome young ones to our Brethren through naming ceremonies, or to bid farewell to Dudes who have departed our way and cruising their way to Dude-heaven.

We, while supporting the Dudeism word and TBL, will be focused more towards Abideism where our practices are more garnished towards avoiding the Lebowsky iconology that has seen the Dudeism grow in numbers substantially.

Therefore, we are working with actual legal experts to prepare paperwork to register Dudeism as a religion in Australia. There is a lot of paperwork and certain documents we need in order to achieve this - and we are working with our people with the assistance of the Dudely Lama in order to achieve this.

If we are successful in being proclaimed as a religion in Australia - and there is high hopes with the support we are getting - it will then mean that we would then be able to officiate as Weddings, Naming Ceremonies and Funerals.

In addition to getting us recognised as a religion we will also be working with the Dudely Lama and all supporters of the Australian Brethren of Dudeism to be able to offer the books and everything else (apart from the Certificates and ID Cards) available in the Dudeism store and on Amazon namely badges, stickers, books, and shirts.

This would mean that you would be able to order these, get them quicker, and avoid the high postage rates involved when ordering from the United States of America.

Finally we would be looking at organising a catch up every six months - in a different city/town in order to not only get to know each other but to bring new comers to the Brethren to learn more about Dudeism.

In order to achieve this a website address has only just been registered - so I will return here and post when it is ready - and have been appointed ADMIN on Australia's biggest Dudeism related Facebook Page - Dudeism Australia - just search on there for @DudeismAustralia and join us. I was only appointed last night so some changes coming there.

While this may seem a pipe dream, and you have probably heard it all before, you have someone here who is dedicated and looking at the requirements we believe that we qualify to be registered as a religion so it is very VERY possible it could happen.

Share your thoughts, ideas here or ask questions and don't forget to join us at Dudeism Australia on Facebook.

We achieve true Dudehood once we stop "being Dudeist" and start being our inner Dude.
Dudeism IMO is the path. One road. Just like our opinion man.

If you meet the Dude on the road... kill him.
