So I'm down in Oaxaca Mexico attending a language school for a couple weeks, and they have a lot of handmade quality shit here. I did some shopping today, and I walked by a street vendor selling rugs. I say to my amiga, "you know, one of those would really tie my room together."

After looking through the guys inventory and haggling the price, I got a really nice small rug for 400 pesos. I realize that not only will it be great for doing Tai Chi on, it should also make for a pretty interesting story, and in English too.

I'm curious what kind of rug stories other dudes in the forums here might have. Anyone else gotten any rugs while traveling to exotic places?

Awesome story dude! Sounds like a homework assignment to me. I got one dating back to the Louisiana Purchase.

Looks like the dude knew what he was talking about; "Pull a room together with a great area rug" ............

Si, and he even offered me a deal--2 rugs for 700 pesos. I'm sure I could have haggled the price down even lower, but I only needed one small rug. I like the one I got so much, that I'm even tempted to go back and buy a large sized rug, but then I would be worried about it getting pissed on

Dude, not to worry, with faith the size of a mustard seed the patron saint of dudeism will keep your rug from being micturated upon in this fair city, and you won't have to compensate anyone.  ;D

My current rug is this weird bluish home-woven thing that my grandmother gave me one winter morning in -03, I think. It's a big rectangle, about 2x4 feet in width and length... it's a freaking good rug, man. Warms my feet in the mornings. Mmmh.

Sounds awesome dude - sadly my current private residence is without a rug to tie it all together - but yeh i should totally head down to portabello market and pick one up. Just a bit short on the bones/clams right now - feedin the monkey aint to easy when you're unemployed  :-[
