I had an insane semester at school and I'm sure I didn't pass one of my classes (which is why I've been absent these last couple of months), and now I'm currently unemployed, but I feel fine.

Taking it a day at a time. Just abiding, I've been fortunate enough to get some odd jobs working for my cousin, and I'm making enough to survive. It's a bit unfortunate, I was promised a job by my boss at my company, but he's away in Germany right now and is incommunicado because he's dealing with some family issue. Middle management at the company, because of bullshit office politics, has essentially told me to fuck off, and that they have no job for me.

Trying to abide, enjoying some lemonade and book on the philosophy of aesthetics, taking advantage of not having shit to do by doing some things I never have time for. Feels great.

Welcome to the ranks of those with a college degree who are unemployed. It sucks but all you can do is to abide and just take it easy. But like you said it does give us more time for hobbies like reading a good book, watching a Coen brothers movie or maybe playing some video games. Just don't treat objects like women, man.  8)

By the way: that book you are reading wouldn't be from Umberto Eco now would it?

Sorry about the late reply. Yeah, I'm still in the middle of my degree, but I get the feeling that I'm going to be on that path anyways. I'm on the fence about dropping out and just becoming a drifter. I feel like I'm wasting my time.

Oh, I'm actually reading a piece called "The Philosopher's Handbook", just sorta dipping my toe into new philosophical areas I never really dove into before. My interests tend to lie within Political philosophy and in existentialism. Would you recommend that author?

I feel you dude.

Surrender but don't give yourself away
Stay golden pony boy.
Some other similar shit.

If it were me I'd go the other direction in terms of reading material.
Total escapist crap is your friend at times like these.
Too much deep thought is the enemy.
Action adventure flicks.
Go to a tittie bar.
Stuff like that.

Eco wrote a pretty good book called "History of Beauty" about the history of aesthetics and I thought that was the one you read. But your book sounds cool too. Yeah, college is weird and I don't remember most of it but having that piece of paper can be worth it sometimes. It wraps er up, parts anyway.

But what can you do, right?

Fuck it, let's go reading!  8)

Hang in there, man. I'm a college drop-out that's debating on going back to finish up--I have 7 years under my belt and I changed my major more than Mickey Rourke has changed faces.

I just want to have a structured setting to learn in, again..I read and write in my free time but it's all over the place and there are too many strands to keep in old M's head.

Was thinking the same thing, Lemonade and some Blueberries, uh, refreshing is all I need.
