My Mom is the Dude of all MomDudes;

Between the sacred leaf, the Columbian sugar I drank with my coffee and of course, a lifelong fascination with White Russians and all the kindred spirits, she's abided beyond even this Dude's understanding.

Then, when I got cool, she was going blind, so she helped and even led the way as I opened the doors of our big-ass family house to Dudes and Dudettes whose rugs had been pissed on to the point of misery or suicide or just giving the fuck up.  She's a living legend, has saved the lives of dozens, loves strangers, abides the occasional theft or hassle....  she's MOM to the world, dudes.  And hell there is even GRAFFITI in her honor on the wall of  the jail here in this totally uncool town (Fort Wayne Indiana - home of the antiDude faith of NEVER ABIDING.  So these gals she helped, have scratched and rescratched on the jail wall these words...   "Wisdom = Miss B" (that's my Mom - Bernice but she's Miss B to all the folks we help).

She's like - the Mom Lebowski.  Totally cool, not a chump or an enabling fool, just abides and wears you down with that HARDLOVE, not that bullshit Doctor Phil tough love that kills so many people.

So that's her - and oh yeah, big WWII war hero, manhattan project (the bomb)  major contributor.

May 9, falls, not a big deal (had a nearly identical injury 5 years ago, recovered in just a couple weeks) breaks her leg.

Now OK, she is old - age 93 but she's strong ultra-active and a health nut, and she heals so fast she damn near takes a surgeon's finger off (seriously, she heals about 4X faster then average, even ribs, pelvis - and it was a clean break - one pin and two screws)

May 12, they do the operation, rightly and properly delayed because pre-op found why she was getting so crazy in the late afternoon and evening -  as she had a nasty little bladder infection that was causing her confusion and loss of balance (old people get that way, no fever, just brain weirdness when they have a bacterial infection)

Hell, she was at the doctor on May 7, and told him that besides the late-day confusion, she felt great.  Hell, we walked there.  BP, pulse, blood pressure, blood oxygen, hammer to knee, all 100% cool.

Doc Coats said "you look great!"  (he was trying to help with the fatigue confusion stuff) and gave her tasty xanax and one other anti-anxiety dementia scrip.  Xanax for the old-age anxieties she's had for a few years is the only prescription she's taken since maybe, her appendix in 1953?

Hell, she probably will outlive me.

Man, this local hospital (great surgeons) just like, doesn't believe in old people or something.

Baselined her as late-stage dementia/alzheimers, and after the surgery stuck her in a nasty alzheimer's ward and wouldn't listen as we pleaded she was not supposed to be a screaming mentally incompetent person who they tied to the bed, but was healthy and sharp.  We never could get them to do much, and she just got sicker and sicker.

The nursing home they finally convinced us to release her to worked with her a week, and sent her to a different hospital - thank God.

she was dying - but not of dementia, not of the operation or leg ....  (get ready dudes.....
it's sick)

but from five or six bedsores, total neglect.  from the HOSPITAL, all blooming with the infection that had now gone through her system and was driving her crazy with pain and poisoning her mind.

New sores, total neglect.  Only in the hospital what, 2 weeks?  She's fighting hard, but it's a near thing.  She was in a coma, and they found one on her back big and nearly as deep as my fist - this on a woman who on may 8th and every day before walked a half-mile and stairs.  Perfect physical health.

I'm so pissed.  A nurse called me almost crying and ratted out the whole deal.

OMG

Vote - but you know the answer already.

Dudes - this I will not abide.

My Mom is not a rug to be pissed on.
Dude.

Col. dude, "across this line YOU DO NOT" is what I would tell the nihilists running the hospital your Mom was in. Sounds like a bunch of assholes. They belief in nothing, man. Cut off their johnsons! There are rules, the hospital is not Nam.

Im wondering if anyone here who uses these things daily could take my posts coming up from the hospital and report them here so I dont have to make multiple trips?

The nurses are held liable here, you can go to a legal council and ask what you can do to the persons involved. When the nurse called you it is already a proof that they accept their negligence. Anyway, how's your mom? I hope she is well now. Angioplasty

I know you feel you need to hurt someone or something to get back at them.

But all that will do is undermine your position.

I think you could do far more damage by publicising the whole nasty mess. Talk to the press, get legal representation. go big style, national, international, whoever will listen.

As difficult as it may seem the best thing is to try (hard to do i know) to step back for a little while.

Surly there must be some complaints system (again I know you want to hit someone not wine at them). Start with that.

Even if you were to do your own documentary and release it onto the web.

I feel for you. You obviously really want to avenge your Mum, but please stop and think, you can do far more damage than just hurting people.

It's not the people you should hurt but the system. To do that the only weapon is the media plus huge public opinion.
In short, a revolution.
Or a 'Port Huron Statement'.Beyond this line etc.
Best wishes dude.
If you believe you can tell me what to think.
I believe I can tell you where to go.
