I have all of the tools and materials to build and set up my shop, and will be doing so over the next few days. I intend to launch my Etsy page sometime next week. I am posting this here for motivational reasons, not so much because I expect anyone here to have any particular interest in this post.

Everybody on this forum is, for all practical purposes, fair, good, and ethical to my knowledge. With the sole exception of one person who I unfairly singled out for wrongly-perceived faults, which I do regret, I have not been as liberal with specific, negative claims about others as the members of this site have been to myself. Sometimes, I have returned insults in kind when directed at me, but those are defensive actions, not aggressive actions.

I trust that the many people I have apparently offended on this site will understand that I have good intentions, and that I intend to do business ethically. As such, I trust that nobody on this site will attempt to slander or otherwise interfere with my business when I link you all to it next week.

I do intend to support Dudeism and to provide products that are of interest to this community, which is a benefit to this community regardless of my previous words or actions.

Right on. What's the business going to be? That is, what are you going to sell, man?

SagebrushSage

Practical items for stoners, gamers, and office workers, e.g. various boxes, grinders, simple tools, decorative items, office accessories, etc., made with fine joinery from hardwood or bamboo, and tastefully embellished with woodburning and culturally-relevant inlays. I have so many ideas. Can't wait to get started!

...I'll be building up to that degree of inventory breadth over the next year or two. Since I'm out of practice, my initial set of products will have a strong "wooden box" theme.

I like it. Do you plan to make most of the items or just source them? Either way could be cool. Just curious about your model.

SagebrushSage

I'll be making everything. I plan to use traditional joinery instead of screws or nails, with the possible exception of attaching hardware such as metal latches, rails, or hinges. There are wooden joinery options for these, but I'll have to consider what I want to choose there. I think a hole-and-dowel hinge setup, for example, might not work as well as the usual metal hinges. We'll see what testing reveals. I was going to take the additional step of restricting myself to hand tools, but I don't have time for that.

My Business Model (since you asked):

Make it.
Sell it.
Profit.

Today, almost all businesses rely to some degree on logistics and arranging deliveries. For example, here https://distancematrix.ai/ you can take advantage of a unique opportunity to solve logistical problems with distance matrices. So don't be afraid and try to start your own business. Research your niche and the challenges you may face. Thank you for bringing up such an important topic, and good luck.

I'm very interested in the topic of starting a business. I myself recently opened my own business and immediately opened it for my clients. I took the service of live chat support outsourcing. I think now my clients will always receive answers to their questions at any time of the day.
