I've been meaning to lose some weight.  Not really because I have issues with my body or because I have health problems as a result of putting on 40 or so pounds in the last few years, mainly because my clothes don't fit well anymore and buying all new ones will be expensive for someone as tall as I am.  Since dudism can help a person be more balanced and whatnot I'd assume the body is part of that right?  Are there any dudes out there who have a more laid back approach to dropping pounds and living well?  Dieting is expensive (unless you do a scary crash diet and eat only mealworms and lemon peels for 3 months or something stupid) and exercise is exhausting.

Any dudes out there inspired to eat healthier and master their metabolism as a result of dudism or had dudism play a role in any way towards it?  I'm wary of being hung up on the result instead of enjoying the journey, but is there a weight loss journey that is more of it's own reward rather than the result?  Look forward to your stories.

There is only one diet that really works, and it fits right in with the Dude life style. Eat less and exercise more, nice cheap and simple to follow.

Procuring food has always taken energy. Whether in years past as hunter gatherers or today when most of us go down the local store to buy pre-packed food off the shelf. But it all takes effort, including getting the food back home, preparing it and cooking it. By eating less we need expend less effort in getting food, prep and cooking. Energy and time that could be more productively employed on other things like.....Oh I don't know, bowling for instance?  :)

Well when you put it like that SisterTrisha...

I think one of my main problems with gaining weight was adopting a more sedentary lifestyle now.  I'm a video editor and motion graphics animator now (before I was working at concerts or at studios in live production, lots of physical sweat blood and tears with heavy gear and whatnot but kept me in shape, despite all the junk food.  We'll call this my "roadie for metallica" phase).  I think I'm going to try intermittent fasting while I'm at work since I'm just sitting down, that way the only meal I'm eating is the wonderful dinners my special lady makes instead of goldbricking imitations of food that I was eating just because they're convenient and portable.

I do try and go bowling once a week but it's not really doing much except lightening my wallet.  I think some walking time in the evenings to wander around my neighborhood would probably be a good plan too, just drift around a bit and see what happens.  I never thought of harnessing a dudeist lifestyle to be fit while fitting right in there.  They always seemed kindof at odds but I guess it can work.

Sounds a plan. Junk food has a lot to answer for, just cutting down on that can help. If you are going to try intermittent fasting presumably a light lunch or skipping it altogether. Do make sure you have a good breakfast. It will get you through the day and the human body is better able to cope with food in the mornings than in the evenings.

No one is perfect by any standard and living a healthy lifestyle can only be a good thing. There are lots of free activities you can do, like exercise at home, learn to cook healthy food, (the occasional burger, beer etc is ok I think) and drink more water. It sounds simple, but drinking water makes you feel less hungry.

RandoRock

Drinking more water and any form of exercise ( walking, running, aggressive lounging, etc) for right around 30 min a day will work wonders! That's really the easiest place to start and from there you can start to change the diet and things like that but it's always easier to add a habit then to break an old one. Those two changes are a great place to start and they don't require much to make the change.

@RandoRock do you know of any workout videos I could follow along with for "aggressive lounging"?  If not then that seems like a market worth getting into ;)

Thanks for the advice dude!

I checked out DDP Yoga for a while. It was pretty cool. Semi-strenuous yoga like moves but with more cardio and active resistance built in.

I couldn't keep up with a regular routine (you know the drill) but, if you did, I could see it working very well.

RandoRock

@ Knox Harrington(Thevideoartist): Tai Chi and Yoga are the two things that spring to mind when I think of aggressive lounging, haha. Yoga is excellent because it is quite the workout for both body and mind!

BikerDude

Cardio and diet.
It's boring but do the gym and hit the stepper or elliptical. Chicken breast or fish with broccoli and no processed carbs and don't expect overnight miracle.
Six days a week at the gym and you should see good results in 3 months.
It's not difficult. It's just difficult to stick to.

And I lose too much weight. My hands are not like two thin ropes. I hate the day when I started it. Better I would have stayed as I was. Any similar issues, dudes?
