How many Dudeists/Dudeist priests are there in the UK?
How do we get Dudeism officially recognised as a religion over here?
Are there people working towards the cause already?
Cause that would be dope, man.
Get me involved.

Dudeist Monk

UK Dudeist here.

No idea how we can get Dudeism recognised as a bona fide religion, to be honest. A lot of folks figured all you needed was enough people to state it on the census forms. If that were true, Jedi would be a recognised religion by now (in the last census people in their hundreds of thousands put "Jedi" down. Apparently.).

There's a probably a lot more ins and outs and what have yous to it than just a large number of people saying they are of a certain religion.

Sounds too exhausting to me. :-/
If at first you don't succeed ... Um ... Yeah. Whatever and stuff.

Jedi Knights are a recognized religion in the UK, at least according to the BBC. If enough people call for it then eventually it will happen it's just a matter of showing that it's something people actually care about.

That's pretty much the only guideline in the US for what makes a religion recognized. Do you really believe what you're saying? Are your beliefs illegal or against the best interest of the public?

If you answer yes and no to those then congrats in the eyes of the IRS you are a tax exempt church. The Military will even put whatever symbol you want on your tombstone as long as you can prove that it's what you actually believe.

That being said we're still a pretty far way off from getting the Day of the Dude off work , it will just take time like anything else that's worth doing.

In the last UK census I wrote Dudeism :)

UK dude here on the south coast. Myself and the wife are ordained however the pretty one struggles to abide although I have slowed her down over the last five years, a work in progress lol. I was thinking about the census forms yesterday and will be putting Dudeist as my religion. I think it was listening to the latest podcast that made me think of it to be honest

StAugustineDude

Yeah, The Arch Dude of York (Kristian Lewin) had tried to get it on the Census in the UK, but evidently fell short of the necessary requirements.   Keep at them though!

Fucking A man, Fucking A.

Dudov

London Dudeist here.

Not sure how we get it officially recognized, but I'd be up for organising some kind of "UK Lebowski summit". Just bowl, some laughs, a few oat sodas... Anyone up for it?

Hey Dude / Duder / El Duderino (if you're not into the whole brevity thing)

I'm like a uh, ordained uh priest, man. Used to live up in the big smoke in Shoreditch, but got tired of all the hustle and bustle. Moved on out to Bath in Somerset. Much more chilled man. It suits this dude's sensibilities. Anyhoo, I digress...

Would definitely be up for organising a UK get together of some kind. Throw a few rocks, toss back some oat sodas and a caucasian or two. Would love to meet some other British dudes. Heck, I might even bring my six-string trance wonder and get a little Creedence singalong going.

Have a good one brother. Let's keep this idea rolling.  8)

Brother D

I live in the south west (Cornwall) and I'd be up for a dudely thing.

DudeInnaTruck

Myself and the special lady would be interested, we're in west Sussex. Bit of a trek, but what isn't?

bodhidharma

South west sounds good to me (who am I?)

Evening Dudes,

Let's definitely make this happen. Best thing to do would probably be to get ourselves a lane, a few beers and have some laughs. As for specifics, it's just like my opinion man, but maybe we should take this off the forum into a facebook group? Are you all on facebook?

Dudov

Arch Dude of Wales

Hey Dudes, Welsh Dude here. I'd love it if we had a lebowski fest or something over here. Tax exemption would be cool too, but I won't hold my breath. Take it easy and abide my brothers.
