Charles Manson Parole hearing. (Your tax dollars at work)

I don't know what kind of case he made to get out. I couldn't hang in there.

Manson doesn't want to get out.  By the time he'd been arrested in 1969 for crimes unrelated (at the time) to the Tate/LaBianca murders he had already spent more than half of his life in prison or some other institution.  That's the world he knows, and he knows he doesn't belong outside of that environment.  So he goes to his parole hearings, spouts off some nonsense, and the Powers That Be leave him where he is until the next time.  It's a waste of everyone's time and money, but they're legally obligated to go through the motions.
I don't go to church on Sunday
Don't get on my knees to pray
Don't memorize the books of the Bible
I got my own special way

They took away his guitar.
I'm not one for coddling prisoners but there are limits.
Give the Dude his ax.
At least it would be entertaining.
Actually FYI the Beach Boys recorded one of his tunes.
Neil Young know him before all the slashing and murdering.
He called him "a little out of control".  "The ugly side of the Maharishi" LOL.

Wrote Revolution Blues about Chuck.
Quote
"Revolution Blues"

Well, we live in a trailer
at the edge of town
You never see us
'cause we don't come around.
We got twenty five rifles
just to keep
the population down.
But we need you now,
and that's why
I'm hangin' 'round.
So you be good to me
and I'll be good to you,
And in this land of conditions
I'm not above suspicion
I won't attack you,
but I won't back you.

Well, it's so good to be here,
asleep on your lawn.
Remember your guard dog?
Well, I'm afraid
that he's gone.
It was such a drag
to hear him
whining all night long.
Yes, that was me with the doves,
setting them free
near the factory
Where you built your computer,
love.
I hope you get the connection,
'cause I can't take
the rejection
I won't deceive you,
I just don't believe you.

Well, I'm a barrel of laughs,
with my carbine on
I keep 'em hoppin',
till my ammunition's gone.
But I'm still not happy,
I feel like
there's something wrong.
I got the revolution blues,
I see bloody fountains,
And ten million dune buggies
comin' down the mountains.
Well, I hear that Laurel Canyon
is full of famous stars,
But I hate them worse than lepers
and I'll kill them
in their cars.

Uplifting lyrics, eh?  :o  It does make ya' wonder how different his life might have been if he'd landed a recording contract back then.  Or maybe he still would have gone off the rails; he really doesn't strike me as being the "stable" type.

Oh he just would have killed a lot more people.
He is whacked. Big time.
But it doesn't make him any less of a hoot to listen to.
Henry Rollins had a long time correspondence with him.
He produced an album for him.

?He wrote me a letter out of the blue once and he said, ?I saw you on MTV and I thought you were pretty cool?.

?So we corresponded a few times in 1984; I?d just tell him about what we were doing with our new record and he?d send back semi-lucid responses.

?He made references to The Beach Boys stealing his ideas, which sounded like sour grapes, and told me to tell everybody else to take care of wildlife. That must have been the old hippy in him talking.?

Rollins outlined that he was very young when he started corresponding with Manson?who was sentenced to life in 1971 for the infamous Manson Family Murders which took place two years earlier.

?At the time I was very young and having him write me letters made me feel very intense and heavy,? he said. ?I?d always know I?d have a letter in my PO Box from him because the woman behind the counter at the post office would give you this awful look.

?His letters would always have swastikas on them so they were easy to spot.?
