Does anyone here know how I can download the font used in the movie's opening credits, or, if the actual typeface used is unavailable for free download, something passably similar?
What the fuck are you talking about?

This dude - http://fontsinuse.com/uses/5119/the-big-lebowski-opening-and-end-titles - says it's a combination of two themes: Old Western (Mesquite) + Bowling (Magneto). Looks pretty damn close to me based on his pics.

That's fucking interesting, man, that's fucking interesting.
Thanks.

Holy crap... I have both those fonts and didn't realize that.
(Well, about Magneto.)

A subaltern query:
What about free to download Googie stars, does anyone know of a useful resource for these?
Dude's got a project under way, more news later...

If Googie stars are what I'm thinking of, wouldn't it be easier to make your own? Inkscape is free and might work.

Each of us has, and must learn to accept, certain limitations. I am a poor graphic artist, I can draw cartoon dogs, sheep, fried eggs and daleks. But that's just about it.
Fortunately, after an extensive web-search, I found a few free Googie star graphics. The band logo is almost ready. Now all we need is some practice time, maybe a few open-mic slots*, to tighten up in front of an audience, and we'll be good to go.

PS Here is that separate thread, of which I spoke earlier:
