Interrelation of ease

Just in case anyone wants to get deep on this 4/20:

I'm someone who has in the past always taken my religion with a huge serving of complexity and nuance. I would audit grad courses on Indian/Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, teach myself some Sanskrit to help with untranslated passages, etc., just geeking out to the extreme. As a psychologist also, I am immersed daily in the complex relationships and feelings and histories of about 40 people a week. So, the simplicity of Dudeism manages to be both the greatest appeal of it to me and my hardest practice. To just take life and family and my patients' strikes&gutters as easily as I can, abiding as I go.

I love the airtight symbiosis of Dudeism's two founding recommendations or principles: How do you abide? Take it easy. The best way to take it easy? Abide.

Both, taking it easy and abiding, have both a behavioral and attitudinal component, are mindsets and ways of being, and maybe because of this combination of symbiosis and comprehensiveness, contain the whole what-have-you into two concepts.

Do any of you fine compeers have thoughts on this holy dialectic of ease? The two pillars that make up the two halves of our symbol's bowling yin/yang?

BikerDude

That's far out.
There is no spoon.
All that stuff.

Well there's not a literal connection.

I don't go to church on Sunday
Don't get on my knees to pray
Don't memorize the books of the Bible
I got my own special way

Only if you observe it!

Or not.

I do think the duality of dudeism is a reflection of being who and where you are as opposed to struggling to be something you're not and somewhere you don't want to be.

People strive for material wealth and status, to achieve a "happy" life, that they miss out on living the one they have.

I am by no means rich, but I have a home, a family that i love and have at least some luxuries. More than some, less than most, though I am a happy dude, none the less.

Roll with the ball you have, in the lane you're in, imo.

So basically people should cool out and smoke a bowl"?

Well, yeah if thats' your thing. If not, hang out in a park, play frisbee or whatever makes you happy, just enjoy your free time. All work and no play, makes dudes slaves to the square community.

Keep things simple and don't be a dick. Air tight brother, air tight.
