I spend a lot of time at the Colbert Nation forums, it is a great place to interact with styles we dig, and also all sorts of paraquats and reactionaries. There are so few places where you can engage reactionaries and not have them launch a coffee cup at your head or delete your posts. It is a wonderful opportunity spread the wisdom of Dudeism.

One thread that is fairly active right now is about abiding, well it turned into that, and I see alot of confusion out there as to what abiding is. Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not see abiding as doing nothing or being a doormat. Just as the Dude abides in not being attached to the outcome of the tournament, he still practices and does his best to be a good competitor. He accepts that his rug has been soiled, but does endeavour to seek a just recourse.

Some out there equate abiding with being a push over, the Dude is no push over, he is no coward, a pacifist yes, but no coward. He seeks balance and harmony, and when things are out of balance a Dude has to do something. Am I wrong?

The Dude also knows that it takes all sorts to make a good bowling team, but that open aggression, bad sportsmanship and not paying attention to the line, cheapen the whole sport. When one loses respect for his fellow bowlers as The Jesus did, the whole league suffers.

This is just some of the Dudes Tao that I have been sharing with my friends at the Colbert Nation and elsewhere. The debates can get rather lively, and I have a tendency to get a bit Walterish, but passing on the wisdom of abiding remains my intent. It is great that I have the many compeers in Dudeism that are to be found here, who can aid me with their wisdom.

Here's a link to the afore mentioned debate http://forums.colbertnation.com/?page=ThreadView&thread_id=21437, it starts off rough, but we get into some deep shit. If any Dudes want to check it out, I would be interested in your thoughts.

How can Dudeists effect positive change in our world, with out losing our Dudeness? What is our part in this whole derned human comedy? Is there a way we can chill for a better world?

Whenever I fill out one of those boring questionnaires, be it to register on the latest dumb government thing or to get free stuff there is always a requirement for a religion. It used to be atheist but now I find I have to tick 'other', hell even Taoist would be acceptable..or Jedi (let the force do the hard work dudes).
My point, and I think I  have one, when is Dudeism going to appear on the list? Has anybody applied to somebody, the man, can we vote? How far would we have to walk to vote? Could somebody go vote for us?
If I had a porch, I would sit on it.

I am privy to some inside information, there is a fair amount of acceptance for Dudeism amongst our compeers.

One very popular Dude I met, would describe himself as a lazy Buddhist, but from our perspective, he is a Dudeist achiever.
