My one sentence explanation of Dudeism: Humanism/Buddhism in a bathrobe for meditative westerners.

It is not a fanboy club for the Big Lebowski, those guys are cool but not necessarily Dudeist.

This is my concern, dude.
None of us would have gone through our ordination had we not been fans of, and inspired by, the movie.
I find a good Lebowskiism often really helps to sum up a scenario, keeps my mind limber, and really ties my thoughts together, in the parlance of our times.
I think it's pretty much like chanting a mantra or singing the blues; the repetition is part of the meditative process.
I'm happy to be a Dudeist, don't mind being a Lebowskiist, but don't really see a gaping chasm between the two, more of a continuous spectrum on which the extremes are very sparsely represented, if at all.
What the fuck are you talking about?

Actually I still haven't seen the movie. I saw Ollie on tv and went to the main site.

I know about the movie and get 99% of the references.

That's fucking interesting, man!
Are you intending to see it? I hope you enjoy it if you do.

you got plenty of examples on Dudeism... Hopefully your not on here to stir shit up.

If you are/were Iconoclesetes, whatever it's spelling was... You have NO dudeness and NO honor, you should stay out for your entrapping methods of hunting for cults. No cult here!

If you are not him... Take it easy, and abide. No need for being uptight.
The Shagbeard abides...
You can call me Shagbeard, or Shaggy, or Shag or Shaggybearder if your not into the whole shortness thing

We received an, uh, an informal complaint that you drew a firearm during league play. If this is true, of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws and also article 27...

Asking what Dudeism is all about is like asking any koan. It first depends on who you are asking and how they take the question. One can't simply say that it is This or it is That, because it is both and neither.

To some dudes it's about the film and living like the main character. And that's cool, that's cool. To others it's about being enlightened and learning to say "fuck it" when the human paraquats start bringing us down. To me it's a mixture of both of these and more.

I find literal comfort in Dudeism. I know that I don't have to literally be like the Dude to be dude. But, hey, that's just my opinion, man.

PS: Dudeism.com is the best source any day of the week to see "what it is" in a very general way.

No similarities are implied between Dudes and 1% bikers except for that both seem to be "in the blood".
