The Johammer J1, which bears an undeniable resemblance to the Imperial speeder bikes in Return of the Jedi, is hardly the first battery-powered motorbike, but it is among the few capable of travelling 200km (124 miles) on a single charge. This sort of stamina - roughly equal to that of a gasoline-powered bike - elevates the J1 from the status of Saturday morning toy to bona fide road-tripper.

Having made the Sturgis trip 6 times from the midwest, about 1,000 miles each way, I can't see trying that trip on something that gets only 124 miles on a charge. I'm assuming that it takes an overnight charge to get up to full capacity which would mean 8 days to get from the Chicago area to Sturgis S. D.
That kind of range is actually pretty lame for a road tripper. At least with a gas engine you can fill up and get rolling.

The New Indians are very nice.
They might actually stay in business this time. I think it's the 3rd or 4th try at resurrecting the brand.
The last couple try's the bikes were way too expensive.
These aren't cheap but they are in the ballpark of the most expensive harley's.

I like the adage it doesn't matter what you ride as long as you ride. Personally I need my bike to rumble the sound is part of the experience so an electric bike would not be for me.
