Is there a Lebowski Code?

Well is there a code within the Big Lebowski?

Just asking?

Some may say there is:

Some may even go as far and say this: THE ANTI-STRIKE

In Chapter 8 "Jesus" (The Big Lebowski 25 min) there is a 4 second scene in reverse image. An indicator of code? The viewer's attention is on the licked purple ball, oblivious to reversed lane numbers ascending to the left. The scene is righted after the strike. However, upon closer inspection it becomes apparent that things have changed again. Jesus is now on lane '21.' What the fuck!?

After an air-kiss to Donny (as if between two tangent universes), Jesus points to the heavens and immediately the camera does a close-up flyby of Score Projector '23.'

LEBOWSKI CODE: Another fine example of a Coen Brothers' foreshadowing . . .

20140404: You're right Doug. So let me reveal a signal code. A signal of significance in the Lebowski Code is thrice repeating (e.g., "your roll, your roll, your roll"). It's like in Donny Darko (Director's Cut, 28 min) when the narrator says, "Pay close attention, you could miss something."  In the "Jesus" chapter of The Big Lebowski, there are actually thee discontinuities: 1) image reversal, 2) Jesus now on lane 21, and 3) Jesus's teammates on lane 19. Some may say that there is no basis for a Lebowski Code.

However that being said. These posts are easy to ignore because they just seem like the ravings of a mad man and I there doesn't seem to be an agenda.

I'm surprised to see the thread being closed without a vote...and that is censorship...but hey if it be the will of Forum dude...then it's his private residence and I will be like Donny and shut the fuck up!

It's actually very difficult for us as admins.

We don't do anything lightly.

We are very conscious of trying to do the right thing as Dudeists.

What you see is the result of probably weeks of discussion between the four of us behind the scenes.



Personally I don't see any difference between this guy and Icon, or Thinkingdude.

Just because he's a nut job he is still ranting on the same level as Icons "post a day from the bible".

Those of you who have been around the forum for a while know how much I am against locking threads.

For me he is just as bad as Icon, etc. If he wants to preach (which he is doing) this is not the place.

I do not see any difference between what he is doing and previous individuals who we have banned.

This for me was the point he stepped over the line:

I am as exhilarated now as I was crushed this morning. Thank you Administrator Dudes for unlocking the thread.

I spent the day reflecting on what went wrong. What could I have done better? I knew tension was mounting. As each meditation was posted--it's content overtly religious--the accusation of proselytizing gained momentum, especially in light of past street preaching. Maybe unavoidable. For it remains to be a fact that it is to these religious stories that the code is pointing.

Dude's, I'm not interpreting the story. I'm interpreting the code. TBL is a Cult Film Noir Extraordinaire.

So, I do not offer up The Big Lebowski as Trojan Horse. Rather, these works of literary art (Gospel of John included) are being spun by the Coens into golden threads by which to weave a rug, not unlike Hofstadter braided his Godel, Escher, & Bach. We Brother Shamuses get a hard-on when we experience these analogies, along with a gratifyingly release. Man, do I get this is not for everybody. That's why I kept to the "Influences" corner of Dudesim.com.

Look Dudes, I understand each lone element of code fails to convince. That would be ludicrous on my part to expect. However the sheer volume of evidence--aggregated and triangulated systems of code--beams in a particular direction. At some point that should begin toward dawn.

When I wrote "Ye Dudes of Little Faith. Have faith.", I was waxing paradoxically from the second-level-story that is not yet apparent in the same way that we bandy about effortlessly the first-level-story of the Dude, Walter, and Donnie. That was a mistake and I apologize. Walter (again, second-level) is inviting us to reexamine the identity of the Nihilists. The theme of mistaken identities is pervades TBL. In the case our Nihilists, they are alluded to as Christians. The Nietzsche quote from the ANTICHRIST was relevant this implication.
