Far out, Meekon. That's kind of the skeptical yin to the symbolic yang. I can appreciate that. Although, here with Nolan, it seems people are criticizing a "motivated" perception of connections more than an "unmotivated" one.*

*I originally did a whole thing about internal/external motivation and translating terms from greek, latin or other sources, too, but my computer shit the bed and I lost it (the post, not the bed). Not sure it went anywhere anyway.

I don't agree with, or even understand, a lot of Nolan's hypothesisi (we officially need a plural for hypothesis)...

Dude, the plural for "hypothesis" is "hypotheses".
All part of the service.
What the fuck are you talking about?

Hey, what if we replaced Humphrey Bogart in one of those great detective movies, like the Maltese Falcon, with one our stoner buddies ?

Hmm, but what would he be searching for?

How about his rug, remember that guy in college who always went on about how much he loved his rug, how it 'tied the room together'?

Who'd play the detective?

How 'bout Jeff Bridges, he could call himself the Dude.

Fuck yeah Ethan/Joel, let's do it!

Paraphrased from actual comments made by the Coen brothers, nothing about secret codes or symbolism, they leave that up to Dan Brown.

Actually I see this a lot in Tarrentino movies, they look like a Beer, Pizza, and joint with a few mates then ask "what would you put in such and such a style of movie?", write it all down then fling it together later and claim you thought of it all.

"I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and  that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road."

I was once at a production seminar with the guy who runs the rain dance festival and he used reservoir dogs as an example ... Dam, lost my train of thought there, not sure what my point was!
