Jim Beam "Devil's Cut"  OMFG is it ever good.  Anyone else?

Sorry to be a downer but I gotta give Devil's Cut a distinct, "meh". It's certainly better than the typical Beam's but I don't get the warm and fuzzies over it.

That is part of a flood of new bourbons (or established bourbons in broader release), though. I'm partial to Booker's, Willett's, and a relatively cheap one from a local distillery, Bulleit - although, frankly, their rye version is preferable. Still feeling my way around bourbons. My comfort zone is Scotch.

When it comes to good beer, price correlates pretty well with quality. Wine and liquor? Not so much.

I don't like whiskey and bourbon, but I've heard Beam is a shit brand. It seems like buying a premium label from a shit brand is similar to putting gourmet cheese on a shit sandwich. But hey, to each his own. If OP likes what he bought, then more power to him.

As one ages, flavours diminish, that's a fact.  So, it takes something with an edge to interest me - like hot sauce,  saltiness, and yes - harsh bourbon.  Suits me just fine.  If you guys think there's better ones out there, I accept donations to the "Send some good bourbon to Canada" project.  ;-)

Where can I get some?  ;D

Drive to the Renfrew LCBO store in Canada.  Should take you a few days...

Now that would be awesome. I have a friend I went camping with a few years back, about 5 of us, when we got back and dropped him off at his pad, his vat of beer he was making had exploded. It was blown all over the ceiling! LOL He let it ferment a bit too much! I guess some kind of seal he had on didn't hold! Was too fucking funny!!

I've really wanted to try Pappy Van Winkle's bourbons. Can't seem to find them around here. Everything I hear/read/see indicates they're all pretty damn good, though.

@DB: It's never happened to me, but I've heard of it.  Happens when you ferment in a carboy as opposed to a bucket.  Yeast can be dangerous!

When I first started brewing, I brewed up some cider im my bedroom(Why I chose my bedroom I dont know)

It should also be noted that I was using a very cheap barrel to brew it in, the plastic was a bit brittle and didn't really bend.

So it was about 1:00am when all of a sudden i'm woken up to a huge bang, that barrel had obviously explode so I wasn't too bothered. Then, I start to hear liquid running,  I jump up and turn on the light to see that the force had cracked the barrel and cider had poured all over my white carpet. I sat there and thought to myself "Fuck it, I'll get wooden floors".

Yeah I tried some at a bike rally where the company was giving samples.
Sadly I am fully completely on the wagon now. Seemed every third or fourth time I got into the hard stuff involved the cops one way or another.

My favorite is Booker's
