Now, I'm not scholar but do enjoy a nice healthy session of arguing with folks but do not give two fucks about engaging in useless, pointless, oxymoronic arguments. Therefore, something that I've learned over this internet era is how to spot a troll and how to peacefully rid of one.

To start, one needs to know what a troll is. Googled this shit and voila! we get: a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response.

Now, it is not stated in this internet definition but trolls come in all shapes, colors, creeds, religions and sizes. Trolls have the ability to exist in all types of environments and forums. They mingle and interact with the locals to set foot and have knowledge to prepare and strategize an attack.

Once a troll has found its victim(s), it will test its limits by throwing in a few rocks here and there and await a respond from the community it has targeted. Once the bait has been taken, the troll proceeds to feed off it's victims' responds and counter arguments by inciting more and more inflammatory and upsetting arguments. It enlarges it's web of hooks and engorges itself to a frenzy of excitement. Once a troll has spread its vicious poison around a forum or community and upset the locals to the point the community takes necessary removal actions, it leaves a horrible after taste in the mouth an a peaceful community shatter.

Thus, a very simple, effective, and peaceful solution for the eradication of trolls is to not feed them. Let the troll starve and make erratic decisions on its own to get itself booted off. Engaging a troll is pointless and counterproductive. A reactionary approach to trolls is futile. One will always lose when feeding a troll. Its is best to just look at the troll, laugh at the troll and proceed with normal business without taking part in its feeding.

Best of luck and good vibes to all of you compeers and to the troll out there, I only got one thing to say:

Good post elgranduderino and pretty much what I have said all along...

I have the same thing to say to the troll .......

I find it interesting when people try to upset me.  I'm an admin of a forum, I've already heard it and may engage just for some sport, but I normally have a slant that aware people will notice is actually undercutting the troll's argument.

or not

Anyway, burger is cooking, time to get off my buns and prepare my bun to receive said burger.

Um, have you looked at the majority of the conversations on this forum?

;D

It's a miracle if they stay on topic for more than a couple of responses.

In fact the one time I almost left the forum was because a thread had been locked because it's originator complained it was off topic.

I've avoided forums in general for a couple of years due to this type of thing (trolls & derailed threads). I guess I'm either over it, or forget how annoying it can be... I don't mind if a topic goes off track occasionally (& hopefully returned), but imo, it's better than dealing with a bunch of reactionary troll-tards who have nothing better to do than piss on my fucking rug, man.  ;)

Welcome to the forum where all the troll-tards hang out dude.

I can't think of a thread that doesn't deviate eventually.

Most of the time it's not really intentional it's just when you sit with a bunch of stoners and try to have a sensible conversation you're just looking for trouble.

Thanks.

I would be shocked if there are more troll-tards here than the last 2 forums I was on (at least I'm hoping ...)

They were guitar & gear based forums where most everyone gave themselves the hat of "supreme genius" - which never seemed to fit properly. Anyway, I don't mind if a thread goes off topic, it's the annoying little trolls that do nothing more than waste everyone's time that really bust my friggin' agates

... I'd rather deal with stoner conversations from 15 angles, than deal with 1 troll! ;)

I'm not a stoner, dude. Yet I often have my "what day is this?" moments ;)
Couldn't be the oat sodas and Caucasians though...

Re: trolls. Short version- I won't abide rug-pissin paraquats.
"Is this a... what day is this???"

Caesar dude

ahhh yes Meekon....I remember those days well!!

I think we were all a bit miffed about being scolded for going off topic!

This is a different type of Troll we have in our midst... a far more serious one! And one that should be ignored at all costs! :)

Fuck...if we stayed on topic the whole time then I wouldn't want to be here any more for sure dude! :)

Peace.
