Bullmastiffs are great dogs... very laid back and calm, don't require much exercise and are happy lounging around an takin 'er easy. Though they dont' need a big yard, they might be a bit large for apartment living.

Here's my best friend Lennon (unfortunately dearly Dudeparted) He was quite an amazing personality.

Awesome dog, dude. Hope he's running free somewhere.

Shagbeard

My opinion is a Dude would want a devoted, laid back, and guard dog. Let you know that a Woo is aiming piss on your rug and hang with you and not run up to any one like they are your compeer. Not big on biting, not big on strangers, chills with you n matter what and abides like a champ.... Lhasa Apso... I want to try and get one f these ancient Buddhist dogs... Like, my opinion is they are a true Dudeist dog.
The Shagbeard abides...
You can call me Shagbeard, or Shaggy, or Shag or Shaggybearder if your not into the whole shortness thing

Hominid

I want one!  But they're hard to come by.

Just saw your reply DigitalB. Thanks for the sentiments. I hope for that too. I struggled with posting a thread about him in July when I lost him, but I didn't, for whatever reason. He was the most handsome, funny guy in my life and I miss him dearly. Truly my best friend, I'd give anything to hug him one more time.

Again, thank you.

My little Zoey is the sweetest guuuurl, and she is most Dudistic dog who I ever did know.  Zoey is half chihuahua, and half lhasa apso.  Lhasa apso, isn't that some kind of Eastern thing?  She is the most laid-back dog in the world, and is the sweetest guuuuurl.

I have a Jack Russell.
Great dog but a total Nihilist.
Not at all dude.

Yeah I had a Jack russell too. She was really smart, and fun when she's on her own. but we had 3 other dogs and she didn't play well with others. Also, she was a total death machine. loved killing small animals.

My last Jack Russell was Benny. He was dude to me, being a good boy but didn't understand why I didn't play as often as he liked. He wasn't mean to small animals but I remember once he followed a large frog or toad for a bit. Then he must figured the frog looked like a squeak toy (he loved squeakies) and proceeded to poke it with his snout a few times. I had to pry him away. Frog lived but I don't think it ever made friends with a canine after that.

My current dog is a rescue dog (most of my pets have ben rescues) who is a Chihuahua-JRT mix, aka jackchi. Very laid back. Figures he *could* run after things but, hey, that's a lot of energy. He was taken away from his first home and wasn't adopted for almost a year. No idea why. Even got him free from the shelter. Took him months to open up and realize he was home. Now he actually barks sometimes. He's happier in a lap (all 10 pounds) or in a little blanket. Maybe that's his robe?

My dudeliest fuzzy friend is my three-legged cat. Also a rescue, he was found as a kitten inside a car engine. His front left arm suffered nerve damage so two surgeries later, it was gone. He's fine. It's harder on us than them. He's 18 pounds of sheer muscle. He'll lie around and sometimes for a couple days he'll find a comfy place and only come out to eat. He likes to snuggle but doesn't mind if you don't want to. I swear I've seen him shrug. Probably saying, "Eh, fuck it." Cool tripod that likes his hairless ape.

Yeah my jack is a great dog. But not laid back by any measure.
Both of my wife's cats are very dude.
