Hello fellow Dudeists,

I'm a friend in trouble and need your advice... I managed to talk myself into a pretty well paid and responsible job, 2 weeks in... I hate it and need to get out. Whats the trouble you say? My manager is desperate and will probably kill herself if I tell her I'm out.. what would be a good way of weaseling myself out of this situation?

Any tips would be very welcome!

Catch you later on down the trail...

Over half the time when anyone is foolish enough to ask my ignorant advice all I ever have to tell them is:

When in trouble, when in doubt,
Run in circles, scream and shout!
If that doesn't work, keep trying to figure it out,
Just laugh at the punch lines,
And the truth will come out.
Don't waste your guilt or anger,
Put it all to good use,
Stupid jokes are sometimes priceless,
When encouraged to be obtuse.

Placing any problem in the context of humor tends to shed light on how to cope.

Thank you for that, it sure did make me smile... A sense of humor in situations like this should get me far. I like your style, man.

The funny thing is, even if you didn't like my style I'd still be laughing! Think about what comedian she might remind you of or what caricature....

While it might not be easy, honesty is the best policy.  Explain the situation, the job isn't what you thought it would be.  Offer t o help out with the condition that you'll be leaving at the earliest moment...  But I'm the type of person that would stick it out until a suitable replacement is found and trained for the position before leaving.  Not everyone can/will do that though.

2 weeks? What kind of job is it?

Masked Dude

Keep in mind it might be the stress of a new job. It could very well be that you'll still hate it. Either way, talk to the manager, explain your situation, and see how it goes for a couple more weeks. Sure, you might still hate it, but you may learn it's not as bad as you think. You can't be resonsible for how others react.
* Carpe diem all over the damn place *
Abide like the Dude when you can
Yell like Walter when you must
Be like Donny when you are
