My favourite city. Lived there for about 10 years. Use to love wandering around the new town for the architecture. It's a place that just seems very personable.

If you ever get the chance to fly over it Milnie it's an amazing experience.

As you say, Georgian architecture is incredible and seen from above you can see the patterns they made. Incredible.

The people are lovely too! Just try and avoid the festival unless that's why you want to go there of course! It just gets so crowded in the summertime!

junior-oboogie is at university in Edinburgh. Lovely city, especially since it doesn't have his parents in it. 

I worked there for a while, in the new town. The architecture is just lovely, but it's just not right for modern times and modern people. I'm a pretty tall dude, just over 2m (6'8" or thereabouts), and I had to duck under doors and weave around tiny little corridors banging my head of light fittings. The buildings weren't built for electrical wiring, let alone networking, phone systems, decent plumbing. Moving a printer or a photocopier was a military exercise. WiFi? Forget about it - these buildings are made of solid stone...

I'm a west coast guy, though. Lived all over the UK and a couple of bits of Europe and the USA, but I always come back to Scotland, and in particular Glasgow. Maybe it's because you can get a decent curry here?

Mask, there are many places in the UK where you can get a decent curry: Birmingham, Bradford, Wolverhampton, even London if you shop around. Don't know about Leicester - only ever went there to play at the university union, then straight back on the bus (and that would have been late 1980s) - but I'll take your special friend's word for it.

It's named after India, but the chefs are Bangladeshi and the owners are... Jewish. Go figure.

My wife was raised in Scotland, and she took me to an awesome curry house in Stirling. Loved it. She says she had the best curry in Newcastle.

Yup. Been there. Great white Russian menu - it's a shame I don't live within staggering distance any more, any time I'm in Glasgow I'm driving these days. Mrs. Oboogie doesn't drive - too many nihilists and amateurs on the road for her liking. Also, I don't like being in the car sober when she's screaming at asshole drivers, let alone drunk in the car... There's more peace and harmony for all concerned if I just lay off the sauce and drive defensively. I can always mix a cocktail when I get home.
