Le Dude

NEW TO THE FORUM!

Sometimes I feel like my Dude attitude is not my natural attitude, like I'm not being 100% true to myself even tho I don't like myself 100%, The reason is because I WANT myself to be more Dude than I currently am.

Is it possible to truly become more Dude and change who you currently are? Not completely, everyone has a bit of Dude I think but I'v lived a life not being Dude enough I want to be like Dude to be who I am more than who I am now..

How would I do it?

Thanks!

Bienvenue chez le forum dude,

I think the Dude gives us a taste of what being authentic looks like. We want to express our true self so we copy someone who does just that.
Your post sounded pretty open and truthful and that is a path to the true you who is inspired by the Dude but not a clone of him.
Generally it is the conditioned self that has been programed to play by other people's rules that we don't 100% like.
You can trust that the real you is 100% groovy.

Far out, Rockbury.  And nice point Le Dude!  You know, I myself dabble in anxiety and up-tight thinking from time to time, and if I looked at my "true self" as my most repetitive mental habits, then I'd say I can be, and was, more undude than I'd like to be.  But, I, too, tend to think about that as a conditioned, and thoroughly confused self.

My goal (and probably others') is to get to a more natural, dudely way of being.  To me the proof that my uptight self is not my natural state is that most of the time I feel pretty shitty when I'm thinking like that.  Shitty feelings are like weird sounds in your car engine --  it means something's off.  So, there's something about that thinking that's keeping me from flowing with life and being in touch with who I am (why would being in touch with your authentic self feel like such a fight against reality?).

Blathering again...
The clouds above us come together and disperse;
The breeze in the courtyard departs and returns.
Life is like that, so why not relax?
Who can keep us from celebrating?
