Robe From 'The Big Lebowski' is Up for Auction

Some new shit has come to light:
The bathrobe worn by Jeff Bridges in "The Big Lebowski" is being auctioned off, along with the green shorts worn by John Goodman.

The auction, called Hollywood Auction Extravaganza IX, is taking place at Premiere Props headquarters in El Segundo on March 2nd and 3rd. It will also put up for sale costumes from "True Grit," "Silver Linings Playbook," and "Batman Returns."

The bathrobe worn by Bridges is an iconic part of the film "The Big Lebowski," signalling, as it does, the state of mind and the lifestyle choices made by the titular character. Bridges spends a good deal of time throughout the film wearing the robe. Bidding on the robe is now up to $1,105.

I say we lobby the sellers so that donate it to our organization, then have it encased in glass at the Smithsonian.

All the more reason to nab it. Just think, it could make appearances at Lebowski Fests, charging $20 each to wear it for 30 seconds. (I'd personally go nude for that experience knowing the material had also touched Maud's bod...)

I'm such a slut.

Bathrobes do a dude not make!

Being a Dudeist Iconoclast, I think buying and displaying "the robe" of the Dude would just further confuse people into christian style object worship instead of just getting on with their lives.

Nah, I'm not saying to worship the robe as part of Dudeism; it would be cool to - as a group - lay claim to its ownership. Sorta like a mascot. If people want to construe that as religious object worship, then that's their issue. Of course, it would be up to us to "language" it properly.

Do remember that I object to "The Dudes prayer" on the same basis, what starts as a joke eventually gets taken too seriously. Look at christianity. (whoops!)

Well, at least someone's who is a Dudeist priest should own it. Keep it in the ranks! I don't think it would do us any harm...
