Sorry, I have a weekday off (like a real dude) and have been a posting away on this snowy Friday.

What music do you get your dude on to? Also sometimes a strict drug regimen or some oat sodas or Caucasians can help keep the strands in your head straight. What cocktails do you dig at your private residence?

Well now, let's see. You got your usual suspects, ya know Creedence, Floyd, Doors, Hendrix and the like, and then I've got a few newer tunesmiths like, Death Cab for Cutie, Cake and Jose Gonzalez.  Plus some odd shit in between like Django Reinhardt, Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Johnny Cash. I just like, what I like and I never know what that will be until I hear it. As for the drinks I must say a white russian is near and dear to my heart, but I also love micro-brews (mostly brown ales and porters) and Newcastle.  I've never had much of a taste for the hard liquor. I always mix it with something. My first love will always be cannabis though. It stands supreme in my reality.

I have an extensive collection of "classic" rock, reggae, funk, progressive jazz and fusion, blues, and what have you. The what have you includes such odd things as String Cheese Incident, Coyote Zen, and all manner of eclectic stuff. When I'm not letting my music player randomly select from all of that, I'm usually playing Radio Margaritaville. Not like you could have guessed, eh?

I've also got quite a bit of old school punk but it only comes out when some shithead had harshed my reality. That doesn't happen often because I'm careful about what I let inside my head. I'm lucky that way -- being self employed I can usually get away with telling people to fuck off before their bullshit gets behind my eyes. More often, though, the Hey Nineteen blend saves me from developing a shit attitude. (If the reference flies past you, check out Steely Dan's Hey Nineteen for enlightenment. Or, what the hell, check out the whole Gaucho album. It's good theme music for an abiding mellow.)

Beverage-wise: At the moment I'm groovin' on some Chinese moonshine that I was turned on to. The guy who owns the take-out joint hit me with a two liter bottle of it. It's very tasty stuff... I believe that one of the spices in it is cardamom but I could be wrong. My usual is Jack Daniel's, sometimes drowning cubes and sometimes straight up. But I'm also known to have tequila in the house, and usually some kind of wine, usually red. Maybe even sangria, usually homemade but sometimes a big ole jug of store-bought.

On those rare occasions when beer sounds good to me, I spike it with jalapeno infused tequila and lime. If that sounds interesting to ya: Sliver up half of a fresh jalapeno and stuff it into a half pint (200ml bottle) of tequila. If you're into the burn, chuck the seeds in there, too. Shake it once or twice a day for two to four weeks, then strain and shoot about a half teaspoon of lime into it. About half a jigger per 12oz. beer is just about right, but more won't hurt. I usually leave them out so my wife doesn't fry her delicate buds.

I don't do the Caucasian thing... in my view a drink is sufficiently mixed if there are ice cubes in it.
I'm just gone, man, totally fucking gone.

See, I feel like I don't listen to a very chill style of music even though I fell very chill when I listen to it.
I dig a lot more metal and rock bands. I love Meshuggah, Clutch, Animals As Leaders, High on Fire, Deftones...it's just how I get my dude on. I always have. I can listen to Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza with a bigass smile on my face even though a lot of people I know cringe and don't like the heavy vibes.

Imbibing usually only is booze for me these days, it's always been my drug regime of choice. Mainly dig bourbon on the rocks or bourbon Manhattan cocktails, some Caucasians and hoppy IPAs (Dogfish 60 or 90 minute IPA, Sierra Nevada Torpedo, Six Points Resin, and HEADDY TOPPER from Alchemist Brewery.)
I guess smoking a J has never been my favorite, and acid in the present is too excessive for me let alone those dudely acid flashbacks.

Ya lost me at the first item on the list!  ;D I know that it makes me sound like some kind of curmudgeonly old dude, but, well, ya know...

My life has been one that doesn't lend itself to getting too deep into my headspace so I don't do hallucinogens. I prefer cannabis to ethanol, but ethanol is more easily acquired just now. That'll change soon, though, I hope, now that Colorado has stepped up to do the right thing.

I certainly dig some Led Zep and a lot of Jimi Hendrix. Just not what I was weaned on.

I certainly agree about Colorado, other states need to step up and end the tyranny. Not a whole lotta people get high then beat up people, crash their cars, kill others and do many other un-dude things we hear about every day. Sadly the same thing can't be said for ethanol.

True, and why I stopped going to places where people congregate to imbibe. In vino veritas -- alcohol strips away the facade and exposes the person underneath. Someone who's insecure and angry will become a vicious and pick fights, someone who's morose will sit around moping, someone who feels isolated and lonely will hang all over you wanting to be your bestest friend... and the vicious drunk always wants to know what the fuck am I looking at after staring burning holes through my head for half an hour. Fuck that!

True man. I wish there was a dudeist bar. That's what the world needs.

If you didn't come to be kind, chill out, have good drunken conversation (not that overly opinionated bullshit) and have a good time, get the fuck out!

Craft beer taps galore, whiskey selection that could make your head swim and white Russians by the pint! Work out a drunk shuttle van and work the cost into your tab or goodness of your heart.

Man sounds like Heaven/Nirvana/Eden/Jahannam or whatever is your favorite paradise idea, and is making me thirsty.

Music-wise, I listen to all sorts (with the exception of the bland auto-tuned junk that seems to be in the fashion of the times) but for my dudely times I go for the obvious Creedance, Hendrix, Floyd etc.

Drug regimen - I prefer to burn a j than drink, just because I personally have some control issues with the bottle - I have an annoying habit of overdoing it and making a dick out of myself, whereas if I get too high I just go to sleep or do something comparitively harmless. I'm also very partial to kratom for a nice buzz. I do drink on occasion, normally a nice red wine or a whiskey sour, or real ale - the fizzy stuff doesn't really appeal to me. Or scrumpy cider, lovely stuff but has led me astray in the past.

Sign me up for the dude bar... I've found myself enjoying bars less and less of late, mainly due to the kind of people I end up running into there. As prices at the pumps rise and more of my friends start partying at home so they can smoke indoors and not lose all their spare cash on one night out, the pub seems to be in decline. It's a shame really, doesn't seem like so long ago that the local bar was my home from home... but now they all seem to be either empty or jam-packed with very undude types.

I dig most classic rock and jam rock.

Out here we are all his children

Hominid

Classic rock, blues, folk, fingerstyle acoustic guitar, imported, domestic, and home made beer (the more hops the better), and no cannabis - makes me hurl if I've been drinking.

And like you mrpaddy, the bar scene is more for the moderately rich, so I drink at home with my special lady. The odd live music night at the local cafe may see me buy some wine or beer, but the concert tickets have to be cheap. I had a run-in with the last musician, so I'm liking the lone wolf thing more and more.

Music wise I tend to cover a somewhat wide range.  Anything from classic rock, blues, both modern and true southern delta blues, country, and celtic rock.

When it comes time for a beverage I tend to default towards either an oat soda or simple bourbon and coke.  When spring comes I'll find myself having a hankering for a couple of mint juleps though.  On special occasions when a toast is in order there's some good scotch stashed away too, but the budget doesn't allow partaking of that too often.

I was jamming some Phil Anselmo Warbeast while drinking Whistlepig 100% rye whiskey, and truly enjoying my evening the other night. Great great whiskey from and unexpected place in Shoreham VT...neat is the only way to savor it.
