Here's another one I did I think it came out pretty damn good. Would you say that the stranger is The Dudes conscience?

Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

the Knutsens

I don't know, maybe the Stranger wants that he had more of the Dude's mellowness in himself
I still jerk off manually

the Knutsens

That's like, my opinion, man!

I think the stranger was a type of a guide for the dude.

It's Brandt, at, uh, well, Mr. Lebowski's office

TheGermanNihilist

No, he can't be a part of the Dude's conscience. He actually talked to Gary asking him bout any good ole' Sas'

Why can't ge just be a guy who dropped by the bowling alley while he was passing through?

Now that I think about it, that bar at a bowling alley would be a pretty cool place to go for a beer when I'm in a strange city overnight.  Sure would beat the hotel bar...

The Stranger really tied the story together...did he not? ............

The best way to understand the Stranger is to imagine the whole dern story WITHOUT the Stranger.

With him there, the Stranger made the movie a lot less stupefyin. I think the Stranger is there in the spirit of an old wise dude tellin' a story to other dudes gathered around the camp fire (or the bowling alley bar), and in English too, we can all die with a smile on our faces without feelin' like the good Lord gypped us.

The Stranger is what transforms it from "a bunch of crazy shit that happens" into "a story".

I wonder how the stranger came to know the dude, or how he came to know the events that happened
