It's been a while since I've seen The Flick, so abide, si vous plait.
I ask myself, how can a man as unattached, mellow and Dudeish be attached to a mundane thing like bowling? Bowling? Jackie Gleason bowled. Fred Flintstone bowled. My mom bowled.
Then it hit me. Bowling is a metaphor for Life. We all do it. It's a social thing, but ultimatly we are responsible for our own scores. You can bowl solo or combine your efforts with a team. Some folk are good at it, others not so much, but everyone gets a turn. Everyone gets their Moment.
At the end of a game what happens? You play again. There has been no change, other than to yourself. You get better. The only change is internal. You better your bowling skills, like you do your life skills.
This is where I agree with Dudeism- Life is not suffering an impermenance. It's a game.
The key to life/ bowling is to be able to bowl while enjoying a few brews with your buds.
It's uh... uh... it's down there somewhere, let me take another look.

Bowling is a metaphor for Life.

So you're saying that Formula One racing or polo would have significantly changed the story?
What about Demolition Derby? Jousting? Wrestling? Chess? Mah-jong?
