Just re-watched this this morning. One of my all-time favourite movies, and for at least half of the film there's a definite Dude vibe about it. Definitely worth a watch to anyone who might not have seen it already.

Yeah it's one of the all time greats.
And actually very Dude.
The point being that the main Dude was hypnotized in order to lose his stress and the world became more clear to him.

Quite dude. I quote from this one a lot. I still need to get a red Swingline. They didn't even make those until the movie!

They are quite common.
I work in IT and it's very common for those to be on people's desks.
Last gig both cubes on either side had them.
Not sure about here. Probably not.
Most people are Indian or Asian. They may be unaware of the movie.

Ah. I was going by what I had read on ThinkGeek and SlashDot. The claim is that it was originally made as a prop, and then in 2002 Swingline started actually making them. Guess that another of those damn urban legends floating around. Sounded good, though. :)

.  When the movie was made they had to make that particular red swingline.  They talk about it on the dvd commentary.  It became a popular request so they started making them
