OK fine let's not forget about the Pentagon or the plain the passengers took over and crashed in a field in penslavania. It was sad and I am not saying don't remaber but at the same time it has been eleven years and all people care about is being uptight and make a big deal out of it noting is going to undo what has been done we need to take it easy the way this country gets every 9/11 is not healthy and by putting it on a mantle every year the way we do only shows that the ones responsible win they wanted to affect us and they did but ye have had over ten years to get our rug back this day is more a political message of why did we go to war really but this is just the tip of the iceberg that is my opinion on this topic in short I do remaber and always will but I also remaber the other attacks and what has happened since

Stever

Thats like your opinion,man...so many lives lost,we cant forget them,we cant forget so many heroes that day,man...thats what I think about

I did not say we should or need to forget I just think we should let up on how much we shut down and makes big deal out of it. In TBL way of looking at it this is not even rally some one pissing on our rug compered to things we have do others like the fact that we dropped two atomic bombs on japan. Just dropping one is the signal most distinctive cadistofic event in human history but we don't see japan more or less bring it up every year that we beyond pissed on their rug. To you really think the dude would still be moping around about his rug 11 years latter? No he would have just take in it easy and moved on. With what we have done to. Others I don't blame others for wanting to attack us. I am sot saying its righ. Yes a lot of life's wheat lost that day but if any one of the four plains should be our focus I believe it should be the one the the passengers showed real American sperit and Dudeist sperit as well accepted the fact that they wheat going to die on that plain and fought back agents the hijackers saying more or less this agression will not stand man enuf to have the crash be in a empty feaild in Pennsylvania saving who knows how many more would have died had crashed in to its target. Again this is my opinion as it is also my opinion that it was all really a inside job ant I could do a chain of events all the way back to the early 90's

All I'm going to say is this.  It is sad.  But it happened.  I think revpurdy is right in some things, mainly that its time to move on.  I mean we don't make as big a deal about Pearl Harbour or the Oklahoma City bombing....  There have been equally as tragic things that have happened in our past no matter who perpetrated the tragedy.  I mean we have spent 11 years at war over this.  Does anyone know why?  I don't and I was in the war.  If this situation was brought down to a simplified version of a family lost someone close for whatever reason, at 11 years after to treat it like it just happened isn't health.  No healing is taking place.  Yes it will always be burned into your soul but making a funeral service every year at the same time isn't gonna bring them back.  While also I think this is a good post in many ways I also find the validity in each comment on the thread.  I think on this it is just of a matter if opinion.  But hey, why sweat it?

Comparing the loss of thousands of lives through an act of war is different than loosing a family member. Acts of war entail countries and religions as the backdrop, so it's important to keep remembering the tragedy of Perl Harbour, etc. so we can 1) learn from history and 2) use that knowledge to move forward so we don't repeat said history.

Your question about why we were at war for 11 years over this... one word: OIL.

Well I suspect that it was inevitable eventually no matter how we acted.
I've come to change my tune on this.
All we need to do is  look at Bin Laden's own words on the subject.
Take note that no matter what he lists as grievances the first item that he says he wants/needs from the west is
Quote
What are we calling you to, and what do we want from you?

(1) The first thing that we are calling you to is Islam.

(a) The religion of the Unification of God; of freedom from associating partners with Him, and rejection of this; of complete love of Him, the Exalted; of complete submission to His Laws; and of the discarding of all the opinions, orders, theories and religions which contradict with the religion He sent down to His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Islam is the religion of all the prophets, and makes no distinction between them - peace be upon them all.
There is no doubt that Bin Laden and the extremists adhere to the Islamic ideas of Jihad and martyrdom. Infidels are to be killed. It is a literal interpretation that they have repeated over and over. While it is true that we have repeatedly done a lot of things very wrong it is also true that they really do "hate our freedom". All one needs to do is just go by their own words to see it.
