A dudeist musical project?

Hey dudes!

A random idea sprung its way into my head today... thought I'd run it by you.

I'm a musician - singer, songwriter, multi-instrumental. I produce my own stuff, in various genres (from relaxed, low tempo orchestral stuff to rock, funk, swing... all in my home studio. Some of the stuff I've written recently has wound up being on quite a dudeist theme.. and was thinking of perhaps producing an album of Dudeism-inspired music.

Was also thinking it'd be nice to have some involvement from any of those in the dudeist community who might like to. For instance, getting some spoken recordings of dudeists saying a few words about what dudeism is/means to them... or any other dudeist musicians who might want to collaborate on the tracks.. or dudeist artists who might want to help create artwork for such an album.

This would all be non-profit, of course. The finished product would be freely available to anyone to share as they please.

There's a fairly wide selection of my stuff on Soundcloud, but I don't appear to be allowed to post links at the moment. If you search for "Mr Paddy" on Soundcloud you should find me. The music is of varying genres and some is still work in progress (usually labelled as such).

Open to any thoughts, suggestions, etc... at all times!

Take 'er easy dudes.

I like "Angeline".  Awesome harmonies, and nice easy-going acoustic lead. Sorta my style (I play acoustic & a bit of electric, and write a bit too). So, what's live and what's looped/sequenced/etc?

Not sure what I could contribute - you seem pretty self sufficient, talent-wise'n shit...  I may be able to send you a track or two of some acoustic stuff I've recorded (no vocals), but they were recorded wet.  I've an old Tascam digital 8-track - I've have to figure out how to get them off the hard drive.

What's your gear line-up?

mrpaddy

Thanks, man! "Angeline" is a favourite of mine. No loops or sequences on that particular one, that was a friend of mine playing drums and everything else was me - some of the other tracks have drum loops on, and I use a program called Kontakt that gives you virtual instruments based on real samples to do things like the strings and grand pianos, and bits and bobs like that.

If there's anything on your old recorder that you want to send me drop me a PM and we can sort something out, man!

As for gear... I don't have much, but everything I have I love and get a lot of use out of. I have a Tascam 2488 24-track mixer/hard disk recorder, I use my laptop as an instrument running any loops and virtual instruments. I have a sunburst purple Crafter electro-acoustic (called Angeline) and an old Fender Stratocaster for the wailing. And a condenser mic that I won off somebody in a bet a few years back, don't know what make it is but it's a lovely thing.

That looks like it would have been incredibly fun to watch. But this idea is not like that one - I'm not planning on re-telling the story of the Big Lebowski etc, it's more about Dudeism than TBL. I wonder if there's footage anywhere of Lebowski the Musical, though, that has the potential to be a cool thing.

And BikerDude - thanks, man :)
