Is there anybody else on here who thinks the Libertarian Party is the most Dudely of the political parties? When you consider how they are all for pulling the troops out of countries they don't belong in and taking more power away from the Government. As well as the fact that they don't want the bible to have any affect on government whatsoever. They aren't bible-thumpers like the Republicans and they don't want to throw money around like Democrats.

That being said, they fit right in there, a political party for their time and place. And let's not forget, Dudes, let's not forget that Gary Johnson has openly stated many times how he wants to legalize everybody's favorite greenery, man. I know I'm not the only one here who knows how beneficial the legalization of cannabis would be.

Everything I said notwithstanding, I'm also just really tired of the popularity contest going on between the Republicans and Democrats, real reactionaries. Your thoughts?

I have considered myself Libertarian for years, but it's only been after the recent economic disasters that I've felt that perhaps greater regulation of the finance sector might be in order. Laizzez Faire may be a bit to lazy, even for a principled Dudeist. Someone's got to guard the henhouse to keep the wolves out.
I'll tell you what I'm blathering about...

I'm not from the US so i don't know the precise ins-and-outs of US politics, but apparently a "left libertarian". What that means I'm not sure, but I agree with a mixture of liberal and libertarian ideas. I don't know much about Johnson but I think Ron Paul is a real whackjob to be honest, and I don't think extreme capitalism is a good solution to economic issues, completely destroying the welfare system would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater in my opinion. But hey, that's just like, my opinion man and I don't mind if anyone disagrees, as long as they aren't a real reactionary about it.

I just took this political leaning test and came up as Left-Libertarian.  I came out further out to the left and down than the Dalai Lama, which surprised me, so I can't vouch for how like, legit, the test is man.  But might be worth doing for fun:

Fascinating survey.  I'm actually at pretty well the same score as Ghandi!  Who'da thunk.

Absolutely agreed. Corporations and financial institutions by their very nature are undude, so they need more oversight than any dude, that's for sure.  Not to brag, but Canada fared better than our neighbours to the south for that very reason: our rules are tighter.  I guess the financial culture in Canada would score more authoritarian ...

Caesar dude

And your relaxed attitude to immigrants is cool too.

As long as they are contributing to rather than draining your economy.

I very nearly emigrated to Canada. I have relatives there.

Peace you fellow libertarian you! :)

My friends and I were discussing the validity of the test. Most people show up as some form of Left, and we thought that you almost had to answer like an asshole to get Right.

Forumdude, glad it was shared. Feel like I contributed to dudeism or something. ;)

And if nothing else, it gets ya thinking.

But that's partly the point - it clearly shows how the right thinks!  ;)
