Julian Assange urges US to end Wikileaks 'witch-hunt'

Julian Assange has urged the US to end its "witch-hunt" against Wikileaks, in his first public statement since entering Ecuador's London embassy.

He also called for the release of Bradley Manning, who is awaiting trial in the US accused of leaking classified documents to the Wikileaks site.

   Lest we forget...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Lot of in's and outs.
I'm willing to believe that the sexual assault charges against him are trumped up BS.
And as far as his complicity in releasing classified material goes it's a tough one.
Wikileaks engineered software that allowed people to release whatever material they wanted in complete anonymity. Whether Assange and wikileaks are responsible for the content is the sort of thing that has been an ongoing battle.
Given the latest decisions about copyright infringement it looks grim.

I actually grant that some materials need to be classified. However from what I've seen a LOT of what Bradley Manning released was not about national security.

Out here we are all his children

There does seem to be an underlying motive from the swedes. Why have they gone to the extent of extradition only for questioning? Why do the detectives not travel to the uk to question him?
