I have been emailing with Paul...the author of the Blasphemous  article and was half expecting him to join us and defend himself from our onslaught.
He did write that it was mostly wishful thinking on his part and an attempt to perhaps goad the Coen brothers into making a real sequel...much the same reason for The Lennon's an mine for writing The Little Lebowski.
It was not meant to be a "joke" he claims...but it went viral before he had a chance to write the disclaimer.

It does in fact show how all the world Loves TBL and are crying for a true sequel. But I do not blame the Coen brothers for not giving in to the pressure...they are smart enough to know how Not to ruin a good thing. It doesn't matter how good a sequel would be...it would never measure up to the magic of The Big Lebowski...and they know it.
Yeah, it would probably be an instant box office smash hit...making tons of money... but the Coen brothers are rich beyond imagination and don't need the money.
 

You make a good point; there is always the danger that a classic like TBL will only be followed by a compromised second draft, especially after the money boys and corporate accountants get their grungy hands on it. Not to mention the marketing people.
