Dudeism, imdo, is fundamentally a state of mind. I don't believe it is an archetype or some pseudo persona to become. There is no sense in trying to be "the dude", or "be a dude", one can either "be dude", or not (undude). It serves no purpose to be undude however, it helps no-one and will ultimately lead to unhappiness. In other words, if you are an asshole, no-one will want to roll with you.

Saying that, it's better to take comfort in the fact that everyone can be a goddamn moron, even you! Ever thought that when a person says "duuude", it isn't just a statement of mere recognition, eg "hey man", etc, more an understanding, much the same as "irie man", to really dig the style, an acceptance of a truth, or a righteous act of compassion.

Yes, there are and have been dudes throughout history and in modern times, (whom and when, is a matter of personal choice), who, imdo, should be listened to and learned from, applied to ones own life/ worldview in a "yeah man, I dig that" kinda way. Being dude, can be the hardest thing at times, no wonder it's such a struggle, be it personally or socially or whatever. Martin Luther King Jr and Gandhi are good examples of this.

It can also, in duality, be the easiest. Start small. In short, don't be an asshole, be true to yourself and have a respect for life. All life. Be one with it. You/we live on one world, we have one life, (unless you're into the whole reincarnation thing and that's cool, that's cool). Show compassion, practice random acts of kindness. Make the best of things, even if you are down in the dumps as happiness can be found in the simplest things.

Make time for the pleasures in life, make time for yourself and others, for example, how well do you really know someone or something? Above all, see the dudeness in others. See what's really important. Fuck it man, it couldn't hurt, could it? I mean, it's more destructive to one and all to be undude, is it not?

Aw, look at me, I'm rambling again,

Take it easy dudes, I know that you will.
