Todd Snider, Singer/Songwriter is definitely a Dude. Just listen to his songs - pure Dude poetry!  Naturally he smokes a lot of pot and always performs barefoot. You go, Todd!!!
Y'all gotta listen to: "Doublewide Blues", "Alright Guy", "Tilamook County Jail", etc.....the list goes on....
byrish dude, welcome to the most dudely place in the whole of the known universe, grab a place on the rug and abide, mang. Good to have you here.

Honorary Dude Award to the late Joseph Campbell - for his very 'Dudeist' philosophy 'Follow Your Bliss'...
In the Book of Life, the answers aren't in the back. (Charlie Brown)

I'm new here...first post.  I was ordained last week and already my life is coasting along must easier.  It's all about abiding and 'What would the Dude do?"
I have lately also been inspired by a late, great icon who was, most certainly a Dude.  I'm talking about Mark Twain.  He had the slow and easy wit that makes him a very Dudeist indeed.   8)

Hominid

Welcome dude - grab a rub and join us at our little beach party. It's almost the 10th; rent's due.  ;-)

Al Bundy

Fuckin' eh, man, Al was dude. Would have been very cool to have zesty coitus with Al's on screen daughter, man; just for the purposes of helping her conceive, you understand! Welcome to the beach party, purple_drank, good to have you here. Pop a cap off an oat soda and abide, mang!

Jeff Dugan (from the movie FM) was one heck of a Dude character. That movie had a couple of great Dude characters, come to think of it...  If you haven't seen this movie it's still out there someplace... Peace, fellow Dudes!  :)

Judd Dude

If we're also including characters here I want to nominate Kurt Russell as "Captain Ron". He's like the Dude of the Islands man! He is a long-haired, oat soda drinking sea captain who literally floats through life, taking each day as it comes. When shit hits the fan he says fuck it and deals with tasks at hand without losing his cool. He's got some great quotes too, such as:

"Okay, let's kick the tires and light the fires!"

(to the kid who picks up his(Ron's)beer) "Hey! You want a beer you get your own beer"

"Best way to find out about a boat is to get 'er out on the ocean. Anything's gonna happen, it's gonna happen out there!"

And my personal favorite- "Okay, let's tie 'er off and kick back some cold ones huh!"
"Is this a... what day is this???"

DudePatrick

I'm going to second, third, and fourth everyone who mentioned Thomas Jefferson.  I raise them a Douglas Adams.  He may have been a little hardcore on the atheism, and that's not cool, but in every other way he was Dudetastic.

Also, how can you argue with someone who divined the answer to life, the universe, and everything?

Both Dudes knew where their towels were.
