So, dudes, was thinking (inspired by a couple of cold oat sodas) that it would be interesting to list and comment on films or books that have within them content similar to The Big Lebowski or contain thoughts and situations of Dudeism. What are your choices?

One that comes to mind is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. In particular, Zaphod Beeblebrox; a dude for sure, albeit, a deviate one, but a dude none the less.

;D Or, an earlier incarnation of Zaphod.......

If you have the DVD of the BBC TV series then it has that wonderful Tomorrows World section where they discuss this cutting edge prosthetics head effect (they were simpler times).

I actually remember seeing it on the telly (the Tomorrows World program).

I heard they had problems working his other head like a puppet, so they just decided to say it was "asleep."

A very good point, Zaphod does spend a lot of time arranging himself to best effect when Aurthur and Ford are improbably rescued from being put out of the Vogon airlock. Where ford just is himself.

It was all radio controlled (but badly) so I think they just gave up after a while.

I was a bit disappointed at the film version. I would have thought a second head would be childs play the the visual effects guys now a days.

True, with Computer Animation, you would think they could have given Zaphod a dozen heads if they wanted to.

also,
LOVED sam rockwell as zaphod in the movie. i actually really liked the movie, which surprised me.

Caesar dude

This is another book which I have read countless times...I have the trilogy (in four parts)  Bound as one, then the final book which is a rather slim volume "so long and thanks for all the fish"...I think I need to update my copy and have a trilogy in 5 parts in one bound copy! Although I'm sure the words don't change!

Never seen the films...don't want to ruin my imagination I guess.

I also loved his Holistic detective series of two books! Dirk Gently. There was a tv adaptation which was a mix of the two I believe!

He was a brilliant author. Terry Pratchett recommends him and you can't get better than that!

Peace.
Love is like a butterfly it goes where it pleases and it pleases where it goes. :)
