Albert Einstein said, "If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself."  Jeffrey Lebowski said, "New shit has come to light, man."

Al said it best, man. Dudeism is the doctrine without doctrine, but occasionally, we find ourselves in a league play situation, such as raising a little Lebowski of our own. So how would you explain the sacred dudeist practice of abiding to your six year old?

Here is my shot. Like it? Tattoo it on your forehead dude. Don't like it? Thats your opinion man.

How to Abide is two easy steps:

1. Keep things simple.
2. Don't be a dick.

I love it. Speaking of nomenclature, Is "do no harm"  different than "don't be a dick?" I am the walrus.
The dad abides.

Now that you mention it...probably not. Don't be a Dick pretty much covers it. 8)

ahhhh... thanks for the refresher meekon5.

i can't wait for the next office motherfuck (read:planning meeting), where i will whip out a few choice ideas:

"... work without effort, anxiety and complication, work which goes with and not against the grain of things..."

"... It is not wise to rush about.
                      Controlling the breath causes strain.
If too much energy is used, exhaustion follows.
This is not the way of Tao..."

"...work would be transformed into spontaneous and meaningful play. .."

See I just stick to saying something completely inappropriate to get that sort of reaction.

Not often called a Hippy though. More Troll, or Malignant Little Hobbit.

Here, it would be more of an insult to be called a hippy, than a troll! Oddly conservative labor union job, with completely a misguided sense of what business wear should be. I do tend to be a bit disruptive... But I do have to be a bit mindful, so I don't embarrass my dad...lol!

Oh, how I long for the days of my dread-locked shaved head!

Sigh...

Busmum as much as i try to resist it unfortunately eventually we all have to grow up (even if it's only a little bit).

I continue to try to grow old disgracefully but find that things like responsibility and mortgages sneak up on you, and one day you find you have tons of both.
