They are looking for patsys to make them look like they are doing their jobs.

sure if you root thru some garbage your going to find trash...after awhile, all the reciepts can be spliced up into nice little investigation rap sheet on you.

3000$ on alcohol found within receipts over time , a subscription to guns and ammo, and other 'pinko' magazines, traces of *possibly abusive, but otherwise non threatening* chemical,  a peed on rug, and a dudeist literature manifesto, etc

Obviously they must be terrorists.

I guess maybe someday you'll have to drop off your garabage at check points where they sort through it and make sure everything is as it should be.

Now...I love America, but I feel like we are becomming something else. And I don't like whatever that is.

Less control, more freedom. That's the way.
You're damned if you dude, you're damned if you don't.

Sounds like the attitude of the KGB from inside KGB Headquarters/Lubyanka Building, Moscow; "the people out there, they're all suspects. If you are in here, you're guilty."

If you see a fellow in a suit and tie with dark sunglasses digging through your trash, be afraid.

Personally I'm convinced that I'm one of those moles that got mind washed by the ruskies back in the day.
One day I'll pick up the phone and someone will say "the woods are lovely dark and deep..." and I'll end up digging up a cache of weapons that have been buried in the cellar for decades while saying "all work and no play make Jack a dull boy" over and over.
It's really just a matter of time.

The words ring true...

Almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day.
It's getting' kinda long, I coulda said it wasn't in my way.
But I didn't and I wonder why, I feel like letting my freak flag fly,
Cause I feel like I owe it to someone.

Must be because I had the flu' for Christmas and I'm not feeling up to par.
It increases my paranoia, like looking at my mirror and seeing a police car.
But I'm not giving in an inch to fear cause I missed myself this year.
I feel like I owe it to someone.

When I finally get myself together, I'm going to get down in that sunny southern weather.
And I find a place inside to laugh, separate the wheat from the chaff.
I feel like I owe it to someone.

that's hilarious dude...that would make a great sequel for The Dude.

The Dude Abides ( TBL2 )

Intro:  The stranger introduces the dude again but this time he also introduces the dude 'various administration buildings' the dude frequented while in college, one of which where he is forced to make up for some absences, and perhaps some youthful disruptions on campus and assigned to help with some science department that is performing some experiments. The goverment gets wind of one of these programs and the dude is selected as a primary candidate to test a new method of spy training.

well anything is possible, i could go on all day.  now i want to watch TBL and smoke some thai stick

Speaking of TBL, I was thinking and wondering if the Coen's could have written into the movie plot (given that it was a kidnapping story) a couple mad cap Keystone cop style FBI agents chasing the dude, Walter and the nihilists around trying to find bunny. Maybe working with Da Fino as compeers.

But then again, perhaps that's for TBL Mark II.

This is not the way of the Dude, spying with out due cause is not abiding.

Sometimes there is a need to spy, one can abide by that, but when the spying is unwarrented, not called for by the situation, and generally corrupt or meanspirited, that is not Dude. When the girl is in danger, and action is called for one can procede with abiding action, but this is too permissive a policy to hand to the fascists and big Lebowskis. Those who would seek to control or profit, and that is not abiding.

He who governs least governs best. That is not to say no governing, just no oppressive governing, when done right, the governing would hardly be noticed.

Good words, dude. Well said.

I went to college. To be honest I don't remember most of it.
I actually went back to my college town last month to see Hot Tuna and man what a trip.
Lotta lost memories. Hey I smoked a lotta tie stick and drank a lotta beers.
