You gotta be fuckin' kiddin' me? ???

What a load of bullshit! The undude merely reaped his fucked up karma, man. He sowed to the wind and reaped the whirlwind. Or in modern terms; what goes around, comes around. Or, in Lebowski terms; this is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass. He got his Vet clobbered!

Yeh they just made the last pope a saint so they are now looking for miracles to credit him with.

On the point of Osama bin Laden I personally think the US has made the mistake by killing the guy, because they have created a religious martyr out of the guy, which will be taken up by al qaeda fanatics all over the world.

Also I don't think he was actually as actively involved in the organisation of al qaeda for quite some time now.

Much like the World War Two plots against Hitler, I personally think if they had managed to kill Hitler they would have energised the German people and removed one of the major factors that helped the allies win the war (Hitler was so bad at military planning most of his orders were responsible for many of the Germans later failures in battle).

All IMHO as usual.

He's not a saint yet, just earned the title of "Blessed." They are looking for a second miracle, however, which would qualify him for sainthood.

I knew he'd been through the process of "Beatification", but I'm not informed on the different levels.

Though looking at wiki it's the third step of four.

I did not know that!

Ok, now I see that it has to be 2 miracles after death, so even if the Pope validates this one that has been suggested (yeah, right), he would need one more.

Well for those who believe some of the other utter nonsense in the bible this is a small leap of faith.

Out here we are all his children

Rev. Gary (revgms)

Sorry, I am not glad he is dead, but I am glad the world is free of him. He killed children, eight year olds dude!

I was also in favor of invading Afghanistan before 911, what the Taliban did to ancient world treasures and their own people was horrific on a massive scale. Some aggression can not stand.

I see it the way DB put it, reaping their own karmic debt.

We could not get out of this with out a fight, they wanted more than our money, still as we know, you loose something when it comes to fighting, our innocents(Donny).

Abideist

Well, I think the CIA had that guy killed years before 911. He was just a sap to pin it on.

IMHO
You're damned if you dude, you're damned if you don't.

WASHINGTON ? A House panel approved a defense bill early Thursday that would delay President Barack Obama's new policy allowing gays to serve openly in the military and limit the commander in chief's authority on slashing the nation's nuclear arsenal.

By a vote of 60-1, the House Armed Services Committee approved the broad, $553 billion defense blueprint that would provide a 1.6 percent increase in military pay, fund an array of aircraft, ships and submarines, slightly increase health care fees for working-age retirees and meet the Pentagon's request for an additional $118 billion to fight wars in Iraq and Afghanistan."

Far as Afghanistan I can buy the Argument that "it's not our business" but I don't feel bad for invading Afghanistan after 911 where we knew there were terrorist training camps and in the process overturning the Taliban.
I'd call that a win win.
I certainly see it as a logical response to terrorist attacks against us by a group known to have training camps there.
Whether Bin Laden Himself was there or not is not even relevant. Far as I know no one even contests the fact that there were Terrorist training camps for a group that had publicly declared Jihad against the US. In the wake of 911 I'd have to call that justified.

here's an interesting what if...what if an African country suffered a massive terrorist attack by a US-based white supremacist group.   The group has camps in the US (compounds, militia outposts, etc.). The US Govt. knew for a long time (back to Oklahoma City) that these groups exist but never put resources into stopping them.

So, the African nation decides to get the terrorists and sends an invasion force to the US (let's say the SouthWest).

1. How would that be different from the US invasion of either Afghanistan or Iraq?
2. What would be the reaction of the average American (hint: it would be similar to how Afghan nationals behaved).

Food for thought, man...

I think this would be one reaction, but I also think there would be a lot of people pissed at the govt for not taking action against the terrorists once the truth came out.

No doubt, man...even dudeists would call it over the line.

Here's my point, Dude--there's no reason..there's no fucking reason--why Americans should accept the US invasion of another country when they would not accept same in theirs even under the banner of fighting terrorism.

Just a thought experiment..something to add to the strands in your old head while sipping a beverage

This aggression will stand---apparently----, man...the US is turning into reactionary fascists...sad...what is a dude to do..
