US crime-fighters are closing in on a gang behind a huge botnet after taking control of the criminals' servers.

It is the first time FBI investigators have used such a method.

The US Justice Department had to seek court permission from a judge to carry out the sting.

Updates to PCs in Rustock were also disguised to look like comments in discussion boards, making them hard to spot by security software which typically looks for well-known signs of malware.

I think that was what we had here awhile back with all that gobbly-gook post that didn't make any sense. There was hidden code in that mess.
I just had a 27 part up-date from Micro$oft the other day. I wonder.....?

That update might have addressed the bot these spamming assholes distributed. I would have loved to see the look on the faces of the dickheads when they saw that their servers were taken over and they were locked out. They probably saw.................
