is there a holy day like you know christianity has sunday and jew have saturday?

Two schools of thought on this one (all IMHO of course):

1) NO!

2) All days are holy days to a Dude.

If you feel you need for a holy day then celebrate one, but this tends to mean that like some xians and other Abrahamic religions you are only practicing your religion on a certain day. You know the sort the bigots that put on the posh suit for Sunday to go to church, then go down the Pub get drunk and go home to beat the wife and kids (or go home to beat the husband and kids).

I think that Dudeism is much like Taoism in that it is an experiantial religion. Living the life all the time is the point not just on any special day.

Dwayne and I are writing the Abide Guide right now. In one part we discuss the idea that Duder Shabbos (as opposed to Shomer Shabbos, the Jewish day of rest) should be every day. That is, ideally there should be a time in every day where we really consciously relax. Relaxation is like medicine - you need to administer it when it's needed. Not just every Saturday or Sunday. The Dudeish Day of Rest? You got a date every day, baby!
I'll tell you what I'm blathering about...

I still think we should go with the Erisian standard, make up festivals as you go along, and change them as often as possible, much like Benders Robonica.

Perhaps we can have a calender of birthdays for Great Dudes in history.  And to double the holiday power, do what the Buddhists do and celebrate death days as well!

Mark down 12th of May and 22nd of June coming up in the next few months for the birth and death of Geroge Carlin, respectively.

Still waiting for that thumbs up button...It would make life as a dudeist so much easier.

You could call it the 'Far out' button if you want.

Unless I can just quote and "bump", and that's just outdated and messy.

You're damned if you dude, you're damned if you don't.

Quaker Dude

There was a Dudeist holiday last week, if I recall correctly, called "The Day of the Dude."  I did celebrate it, of course, but I try to celebrate *every* day as if it were "The Day of the Dude."  At my house, it is!

One who is a Dude must before all things keep constantly in mind...the fact that he has to take it easy.

Thumbs Up

see how much work you had to do? You had to press quote, then scroll below, then type 'thumbs up', and finally press post...Practically a five step process if you count motivation to do it at all.

One action. Click the 'far out' button...'nuff said.

Just tell them it's a Dudeist holy day and quote your human right to practice religion any way you see fit as long as it doesn't break any laws. (Human rights act section nine for the international version and section eight for the EU version, I think but would have to look it up).
