One month ago I watched Tron Legacy, and I liked it...a lot.

After contemplating the Coens once more time I just came at the conclusion that the protagonist, Kevin Flynn, is the reincarnation of the Dude or at least is a closet Dudeist Archbishop in the grid universe. Points at favour of this theory:

1) He looks like a slimmer version of the Dude (well, that's not saying too much).

2)He's bearded.

3) For most of his screen time he wears a bathrobe, or something pretty similar.

4) He practices the Tao principle of the Non Action to stop the Evil Antidude Clu who wants to act and invade the real world.

5) In his house we see many rugs and quite a lot of sofas

6) He also lives with a lady friend that shares the same haircut shown the Dude's lady friend and spends most of her time languidly laid down on a sofa reading Jules Verne (just this fact proves that she would be an excellent Dudeist priestess).

7) He's morbidly attached to his rug...ehm Ducati.

Any thoughts about it?

I assume you are aware that they are both Jeff Bridges, but just thought I should make sure.

I agree, for the most part...  I mean taking the real world perspective, they (Disney) probably were just capitalizing on the fact of the Dude's popularity.

But yeah... I quite enjoyed Flynn's new characterization. It was a lot more lively than Flynn in TRON. I also enjoyed his employment of various other hacker-movie and sci-fi meme's, including his War Games-esque proclamation that "the only way to win is not to play".

In addition to being the dude, Flynn was also pretty much Obi-wan Kenobi ... it was pretty righteous, man.

1) Yeah, see point 1! ;)

2) It is very well known that Ben was a Dudeist missionary on Tatooine, or at least this is what I heard in the Expanded Universe.

See I thought point one meant it was not difficult to be slimmer than Jeff Bridges

Jedi doctrine is mostly robbed from Zen and Bushido (IMHO).

It also seems as if Rooster Cogburn from True Grit is The Dude's great grandfather. Many similarities there too.
One who is a Dude must before all things keep constantly in mind...the fact that he has to take it easy.

true but Disney cant cash in on the popularity of the dude role really cus it fits with the original tron movie aswell
