Well, there's a rumor: http://filmdrunk.uproxx.com/2011/01/tara-reid-announces-plans-for-big-lebowski-2-wait-what

How are you going to keep em' down on the farm with a TBL II rumored? As pointed out by M5; "part twos" usually suck, but if this is true, it would be interesting to see what the brothers Coen come up with if it isn't all piss on a rug.

;D Will she still offer services for a mere $1000.00?

DB you assume they are going to give it to the Brothers C. Isn't it usual Hollywood crap to piss off the original directors and just give it to an also ran!

Very true but would the Coens take it on - am I just projecting when I assume that they would consider any kind of sequel as artistically beneath them?

That does happen sometimes, but in many cases (such as TLOTR), Peter Jackson directed all three movies. But I think you are correct in your observation that Hollywood has a long time reputation in fucking up a good thing, especially when corporate execs and bean counting accountants take over. Nothing ever changes. Again; it's like Lenin said, "you look for the person who benefits."

Do remember LOTR was pitched as all three films in one go, look at the Aliens series of movies and how many directors they had:

Alien (1979) Ridley Scott
Aliens (1986) James Cameron
Alien 3 (1992) David Fincher
Alien: Resurrection (1997) Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

TLOTR in one movie? That would have been one long movie or a very abbreviated story line. Have the Alien series, always love a good "ghost in the dark" sci-fi thriller. All of the movies were good which is unusual. It might have been better to have new director on each movie, mix things up a bit. I wonder what a TBL II would be like if the brothers Coen didn't direct?
